Petetrucker07 Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Im lookin for straps. Where can i buy or does anyone have a good way of making them?
Superpeterbilt Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Ive painted zip ties flat yellow and used them before. Theyre a little thick but they get the job done. Ive also seen very small nylon strapping for bracelets and what not at hobby lobby

Old Albion Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 (edited) Check out the photo etch parts at Kit Form Services www.kitformservices.com Look at parts PE63 Ratchet straps. Edited June 21, 2014 by Old Albion
hooknladderno1 Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Hi Clayton, For the straps themselves, you could use plastic medical tape. Your local pharmacy should have it. It is clear, but has a texture like webbing. You can paint it with any acrylic paint. The photo etch ratchets mentioned above are also nice! HTH. David
37 caddy Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 another thing to use is 3M automotive masking tape,it comes in yellow, green and tan colors,it has a similar texture as the real straps do?,stick 2 peices together and cut it to the desired width and there you go,on the end where it is sticky it can be used to hold onto the clips on the ends. Petetrucker07 Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 Thanks for the ideas, i knew it had to be something simple. Thats why i like this forum, very creative and knowledgable people.
TRaymo Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Hobby lobby has 1/8" ribbon in multiple colors including a spot on yellow. It scales to 3.125" which is pretty close to a 4" strap. I use that paint one end black and fold it over with a lil super glue so it retains its shape. Then use a piece of small styrene rod as a winch. Best part is a 18ft roll is $1.99
Petetrucker07 Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 I was there yesterday. I seen that stuff there and some leather that would work. I picked up a bunch, actually all they had, 3.5mm red and amber jewels. Now i know what im lookin for at HL, i can get it when im ready for it. Thanks everyone
BigBad Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Some time ago I built a step deck trailer and used yellow 1/8 inch ribbon I found at Walmart in the hobby department. They sell these in 10 yd rolls. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70254&hl=%2Bstep+%2Bdeck#entry870437
