fitforbattle Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I'm having model building classes at work (I work at a youth center) and thought I should share their work. These are built by kiddos that have never even seen plastic model kits before, so I presented them to some easy kits and some tamiya colors. These are some finished models so far. North American P51 Mustang built by a 13 year old F16 built by a 10 year old. No white paint tho, he though the kit plastic looked OK. More builds will be added on later. I'm so proud
fitforbattle Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 It's really rewarding for me as well as them. I think I've discovered some new future plasticaddicts!
slusher Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 They look really good for young model builders. good to get kids in a hobby...
fitforbattle Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 F-18a Jaguar XKR GT3 team Eritrea. NASA Discovery Really impressed. I showed ONE decal and how they work and then the did it like they've been doing it for ages.
majel Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Robin: glad to see you taking on an endeavor like this, great too see kids getting involved. I taught an elective class on models when I taught seventh grade, the kids loved it!! Thanks for bringing the hobby to the younger generation.
Art Laski Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Excellent, Robin. That is a wonderful thing you're doing.
spotarama Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 those models are better than than the stuff i build, i hate those kids (just joking)well done
alangarber Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I think they did a much better job on those than when I built my first model. Great job by all
DynoMight Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 That Jag looks good! Good job on bringing more people like me into the hobby!
Bill Eh? Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 All of the kids' efforts have paid off with great looking models. Applying decals is a lot trickier than it looks. Great efforts all around.
MikeBoyle Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 These can't be their first builds. There isn't any body's painted in multiple layers of Testors enamel using a brush, no tube and a half of glue per kit, no glue finger prints on the kit glass, etc...They are doing great work and thank you for taking the time to get them interested in doing so.
