The Modeling Hermit Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 (edited) This is a used car lot diorama that I started working on. It's setting is mid 60s to mid 70s, depending on the mood that I'm in. I'd had plans for this to be a shared diorama with a gas station, but I liked this better. This is the office interior which includes a space heater, office furniture, air conditioner face (left wall), and a lunch bucket, thermos and pile of papers on the right wall. The left wall contains an air conditioner that replaces a window. Here one can see the supports for it and behind the supports is an electrical box. The building is actually a portable unit that's been placed on a metal girder foundation. A close-up view of the building in its location on the diorama. Here's a little fun in B&W. slusher Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 This is great. Real nice work. I worked for a guy who had the little office and a old garage just like this...
Old Buckaroo Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I like it and it shows a lot of work and character. The only thing missing is an Edsel mounted up on a pole !
bbowser Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Very cool. I wonder what they're asking for the Hudson?
LongRoofNut Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 I worked for a place like this in Laramie, Wyoming back when I was in tech school. Only thing the building was dark red but pretty darn close to what you built there. LOVE IT!
The Modeling Hermit Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 Bruce thanks for your comment. Sometimes a joke can be very helpful I need prices on the windows. Now I just have to find some of the used car lot ads from the era.
charlie8575 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Fantastic, Doug. Perfect, simple, well-done execution. Charlie Larkin

gasser59 Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Now that is cool. A lot of thought has gone into this. The raised platform outside the office could use a wooden bench and a trash can.
Jaguar man 21 Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Hey if no one wants the Edsel I'll take it very cool diorama
Biggie Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Rok, this is in 1/25 scale. Awesome, this one takes some space right
