That's pretty cool...one thing I've noticed w/ the models and Tomica police car diecasts going back 40 years or so of Japanese patrol cars is the peaked black section on the hood..wonder what that is about.

Just a follow-up to Rob's question, because I was also wondering about the black scallop thingie on the hoods of Japanese police cars. Anyone?

Harry I have searched and searched but have found no definitive answer. I will email some of my Japanese counterparts and see what they say.

My Japanese friend said there is no significance to the paint job. Other than the lower black helps hide dirty lower body.
