I would like to know what other kits may have one gallon gas cans as found in the original AMT '34 Ford pickup.

Also trying to find out if the tire rack was in any other kits.

In the Revell packs that had the display items, had cans with writing on them, I don't have the exact kit number

Greg, thanks for the info.

Vince, I have the '61 Ranchero Custom that was issued in 1997. It only has the bumper jack and tool box in it.

Is it the new issue George Montgomery Ranchero that has them?

New issue 61 Ranchero has a gas can in it..and the 81 monogram \revel bronco has a 5 gallon gas can...

Thanks for the info Carl.

I already have 2 of the earlier Ranchero's. I really don't want to buy the new one just for the cans & the other new pieces in it unless I can get one cheap.

you might try some of the military resin accessory kits. 5 gallon in 1/35 scale might work out well in 1/25.

Verlinden makes a ton of stuff. also, check PlusModel.cz - #106 oil tins.

as mentioned, Revells C1157 Accessory Display Items parts pack contains three chrome plated gallon cans with Gas Oil Water written/raised on them (one to a can of course). unfortunately i don't think this parts pack has ever been reissued so finding it might prove problematic. Included along with the cans are stations, rope, chrome (everything is chrome) crankshafts, floor creeper, floor jack, bunch of tools, bunch of pistons on rods (!), engine stand of the swoopy style, jackstands (4), fire extinguisher. oh the pistons and cranks are noted as Chevy parts so that might help in your next small block build! might keep an eye on ebay though, never know if it might come up.

I have two different sizes Frank . If you would like to scratch build some here are the measurements.

The smallest one is chrome plated and is .178 X .268 X .363 Tall .407 to the top of the handle

The larger ones are molded in red ( I am thinking 34 Ford truck AMT) .245 X .350 X .455 Tall .510 to the top of the handle.

Thanks Andy, my scratch building skills aren't the best though.

I'll save that info in case I can't find any and I have to scratch some up.

Here is a related, but un-related question about the gas and oil cans included in the '60 Ranchero kit. The instructions say to paint the gas can red and the oil can yellow. I know red is right for gas can. But, is yellow correct for the oil can? I'm a little too young (56) to remember oil being transported in generic cans like this.

I happen to have just run across a set from Scale Equipment Ltd, # 25073-B, Can Assortment. these are resin parts and the set contains six one gallon square cans, with material to make a little top holder thingie, and also six each of quart and gallon round cans. might want to look for this; I got it a long time ago (>10 years) but I believe the company is still in business and they make all kinds of neat stuff like this for dioramas and accessories for builds. it doesn't say but I believe they are 1/24 scale, or at least the square cans are similar in size to the Revell parts pack ones I mentioned above. I think this bag of parts cost maybe 3$ max, so should be affordable.

Back in the day most cans had a logo of some kind on them in their own colors. Green would work, or just put a logo on it with your name .

Check this page out. http://gasolinestationmemorabilia.com/Half,_1_+_2_Gal_Cans.html

Great source for info. In fact I've bookmarked for future reference. Thanks. After looking at a variety on things on the site, it looks like anything goes back in the day.
