TheCat Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 This is the first (and maybe my last) Metal Model kit from Testor. Me personally, I don't count Metal Model or diecast kits modeling... But I wanted to build my town's cruiser and there's no plastic model kits of this vehicle so I had no choice but to build it using the metal body kit. I did detail the inside and added Bare Metal Foil around the door trims and hand painted some of the exterior details to make it look closer to the real vehicle. Had custom decals created and used the lightbar from the Lindberg Dodge Charger Police cruiser kit. Well, here's the finished product.
Harry P. Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 I don't count Metal Model or diecast kits modeling... Why? What difference does it make what material the body is made of?
TheCat Posted August 20, 2014 Author Posted August 20, 2014 True if all you do is put them together. You should check out Larry and Cliff Read's builds. They build amazing models that puts most styrene kits to shame. Go here and you'll see diecasts in a whole new light...... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=user_activity&search_app=forums&mid=7441&sid=6c72258385d55db5de74dfa90c0b538a&search_app_filters[forums][searchInKey]=&userMode=title Okay, I'm amazed. What Larry and Cliff do with diecast models is very impressive.
Maxicoop Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Felix, I'm not a medal modeler either.....I was raised on plastics and I just like building them .....plus I can get them (plastics) cheaper so I can buy more and my collections grow quicker !!!! LOL Felix, I'm not a medal modeler either.....I was raised on plastics and I just like building them .....plus I can get them (plastics) cheaper so I can buy more and my collections grow quicker !!!! LOL but I do think you did an awesome job on your cruiser !!!
TheCat Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 Thank you everyone... This was one of the builds that I wanted to build for a while. Now I have all the most recent Brick Township Cruisers built. Here's all of them... Year 1997 - Built using the Lindberg Police Cruiser kit. 2008 - 2013 - Using the Lindberg Dodge Police Cruiser Kit.
Danno Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 (edited) Nice, regardless of what they're made of. Edited August 21, 2014 by Danno
Daddyfink Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Diecast, I used to call them glorified pull toys, but, the more I look at them, the more I am convinced of what a good alternative they really are. Thus, very nice job on your replica!
