Deano Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Thought I was leaving you all this weekend. Saturday night I got that pain in the chest and arms and shortness of breath. Yep, had myself a heart attack (albeit a mild one). Now I have a new medication regimen, a new diet and a new exercise lifestyle. Man, it sucks getting old.

cobraman Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 For health reasons I changed my diet and routine. Lost several pounds, blood pressure much better, A1C much , much better, in fact so much so my doctor was shocked at how much I dropped it in a pretty short time. You can do it ! Stay with it and do not give up !
disabled modeler Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Sorry to hear that guys but glad you are ok. Its nothing to mess around with and yes getting old does( ).
tubbs Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 glad to hear your OK. getting old, well, that's all part of it. had a stint like that 6 months ago, went to the hospital, they found I was in great shape (besides the quarter keg I'm carrying). don't know what's worse, finding something or not finding anything. carry on the best you can.
Custom Hearse Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Glad to hear you made it through Dean. Dan, I'm sorry to hear about your dad, I hope he gets better soon. I almost didn't make it with my heart attack. They said it's called a widowmaker (if that doesn't stress the severity of it...). I had my first heart attack on June 2nd 2012, then 2 more on June 9th 2012, then had a double bypass on June 11th 2012. My heart is only working at 38% now, and the Dr. say's it won't get any better. I had a pacemaker/defibrillator installed a year later, all before my 50th birthday. Don't let yourself get to where I'm at now. Eat better, exercise, and get a checkup at least once a year. Your body will thank you for it!
slusher Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Take care of yourself Dean. I lost my grandmother to one in the hospital in 79.

Agent G Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Well you are from the "show me state". Guess it showed you, huh? Glad you pulled through and good luck with the new lifestyle. G
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Glad you made it through without anything major. I was having symptoms of unstable angina back in 2001 or so. Lost a good bit of weight, got rid of some other stressors (a job I hated and a girlfriend who apparently made it her life's mission to make me miserable), and 13 years later I feel pretty good for an old fossil. Still can hike 15 miles without too much bother (well, my feet hurt afterwards), so take care of yourself and you'll do fine.
Maindrian Pace Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Stay vigilant, man. Often it's a health scare that makes people really listen to their doctors and gives them the determination to make changes leading to improved health, condition, weight, etc to avoid future scares. -MJS
