Bob Ellis Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I have had some Bare metal Foil last for years.
TFchronos Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I agree with Fred, white stripes would look really good on it. Very nice work and progress, the paint job looks great.
JTalmage Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) Thanks guys. I detailed the wheels last night, and also added BMF to the turn signal markers. Then painted them appropriately. Was so tired I forgot to take pictures. Plus I was caught up in Magnum P.I. lol I also realized I goofed and painted the tail panel silver, when it should have been black. So I corrected that. Edited September 3, 2014 by JTalmage
freakshow12 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) Is there any way to get the front wheels in a little more and maybe up just a smidge? Cudas always had a little sidewall hiding up in the fender. Would be just minty then : ) Edited September 3, 2014 by freakshow12
JTalmage Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 Well, those were just a few mock up pictures. The rear valence and bumper will make the front end go down, because the back end isnt sitting where it should. Also the wheels werent fully pressed on the axles. I noticed those things as well. I'll take care of that hopefully once its done. Of course this makes me now realize I forgot to paint the rear valence.
Tom Geiger Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Be careful with side stripes. If I remember correctly, this body has door handles that are too large and interfere with stripes and bumper rub strips. I had a 1:1 '73 that had the rub strip the length of the car... the handles were in the way of it so I never did build a model.
JTalmage Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 (edited) Well, white stripes it was. Added some BMF to the turn signal lenses and then added some paint on them. Decals were giving me fits at first because I was getting bubbles under them that I couldnt get out. They didnt want to adhere to the car very well either. But, with this kit being pretty old I almost expected that. However when I got them to dry and blew some clear on them, they turned out pretty well. It's so humid out that the clear was taking a really long time to dry. I was able to handle it a few hours later just enough to throw the grille into it, and the headlights/bumper. My real camera's battery decided to actually take a charge last night, so I'll get some good pictures of it when its finished... probably tonight! Edited September 4, 2014 by JTalmage
disabled modeler Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I have a Gold Leaf 1972 Barracuda promo. I've always liked the color I can get a better picture tomorrow if u want , this pic doesn't show the color very well. That is SWEET Bill....!
freakshow12 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 That looks great! I would take some headlight lenses from say a 69 camaro kit and foil the spot on the grille and the trim on the edge of the lenses. Would give the front some better depth
w451973 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Glad you chose the white. That looks sharp. If that had the scooped hood it would look just like my brothers old Cuda.
