Back when I was a kid and my musical tastes were forming. profanity in music was incredibly rare. So rare that any song that used it became "famous" immediately. It was very much the rare exception, not the rule. I can probably count on the fingers of one hand the songs that had a "swear word" in them... and they were never played on the radio without the word being edited out. These days, swearing in music is as common as the sun coming up, and IMO that's a pretty sad commentary on how our society has "evolved." We used to have standards as a society, but it looks to me that our standards are all falling away and today, anything goes. Pretty sad. Johnny Cash was one of the first.

jwrass Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) Harry, You make a great point(s) I have a fairly large music collection (vinyl and CDs) the last few tears I have purchase my share of music from ITUNES mostly from the 69 cent area (el cheapo) the other night I was looking and they had a category Hits of the 2000s (I didn't know their were any hits in the 2000s :D ) anyhow at least 60-70% of the songs had a Red Tag warning. Yes indeed it's a shame what the music industry offers today!! Jolly, You are correct on Hey Nineteen, I can listen to SD all day long and never get bored!! Great Band. Her long legs were tan and brown, y'all Better keep your eyes on the road, son Edited February 13, 2015 by jwrass

I know, here comes the old "back in the day", if you wanted to hear profanity in your records, or hear vulgar talk, or see scantily clad women, you could find it, yes, I like the lady figure, yes I talk inappropriate sometimes, yes I swear. but I do it when and where it seems fit, not at McDonalds or Hobby Lobby. it wasn't sitting on the grocery store shelf, or heard at the local pizza shop. today it's nothing to a lot of people and yea, I am behind the times and will remain there. you know how hard it is to watch a comedy show at 8:00 with your 13 year old? sure, he has heard it before, but not while I am sitting there.sorry that should be the last of that. now, onto more lyrics...I added part of the chorus because it's not a real popular song, but if you are a metalhead, you should get it.She was always something specialA diamond shining bright in the rainEverybody dreams of angelsNo one will ever know how much I loved you soNow it all seems funnyKinda like a dreamThings ain't always what they seem Edited February 13, 2015 by tubbs

chunkypeanutbutter Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) Never really cared for this song as much as others on the album, but around 2:30 where the guitar stings come in, it gets cool. "Meet the brand new day-huh-hey-ayyyy The sun is up The sky is blue It's beautiful And so are you ____ ________ Won't you come out to play?" Edited February 13, 2015 by chunkypeanutbutter
chunkypeanutbutter Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) From the same album... "Deep in the jungle where the mighty tiger lie Bill and his elephants were taken by surprise So Captain Marble zapped him right between the eye All the children sing!"
