I woke up this morning, realized what I had done,
I stood alone in the cold gray dawn:
I knew I'd lost my morning sun.
I lost my head and I said some things

No one will get this:

I thought I was a space age cowboy.

I thought I was a sweet and sour chowboy

I thought I was a thinker,

A juvenile drinker,

I thought I had some kind of a brain...

Unbelievable! That one is obscure, most people I talk to have never heard of Sweet. You a fan?

How can I try to explain, when I do he turns away again.
It's always been the same, same old story.
From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen.
Now there's a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.

Another one of my favorites old but I listen to it often...simple song

Now I have had some dear sweet friends I thought would never die
Now the only thing that’s left of them is the teardrops in my eyes
If I could have one wish today and know it would be done

Sweet was a good band. I dont know a whole lot about them except for a few songs, Little Willy, Fox on the run, and Ballroom blitz

Sweet was very under rated. Their best stuff wasn't on the radio. Very talented musicians. Too bad 2 of the 4 members have passed on.

And I don't know oh where I'm going

I just want to be left alone

When this train ends, I'll try again

"well i been playin rock n roll now

for half a million years

and the road to success might be called the trail of tears

now i dont mean to sound bitter

for, ive surely had my fun

but if i could have looked ahead, i might never have begun

its a long way down, to turn your head around

Speed limit 65

But I was doin' 94

Police tracked me down

And that made me kinda sore

It took a little while

But I got right back on the go

(Hint: A rare one - it's a girl singer on a Chicago R&B label)

"Burning Rubber" by Carol Cummings, Checker 983, 1961 - many thanks to Dennis Doty for that one. B-side that really should have been A.
