Really great progress Ira. I could see your beast running across the salt setting a speed record..

Thanks Carl!

With a change of tires, the Beast could be a Bonneville Racer, that would be a Fun Project... B)

Windshield for the Beast!

I made Windshield Posts from strip plastic and glued them in place with Zap-A-Gap.

Two Scoops!

I started with 2 Scoops on each Side...

I ground off the Bottom Scoops and applied Putty.

Sanded Smooth...

I used a Dremel Tool with a 1/16" Drill Bit, an X-Acto Knife, Files and Sandpaper to open up the Scoops.

Great Idea Greg!

But an Ejection Seat and Roof Panel with Explosive Bolts would be Faster... B)

Sticky Pipes!

I just started using Aves Apoxy Sculpt. It is a thick epoxy Modeling Compound, that can fill Large Gaps and be Shaped.

DSCN6116M_zps2e9acb2f.jpg

After mixing the Apoxy, I rolled it into "Snakes". I stretched the Snakes to fill the grooves in the backside of the Headers.

Next I cut 2 lengths of Aluminum tubing to fit over the ends of the Headers.

BTW, will the Moon Beast be at NNL West in Santa Clara? This will be my first NNL West and it would be great to see this in person! Chris

Thanks Chris!

Yes, I plan to be at NNL West next year. See you there... B)

Smooth Pipes!

I attached the 2 Lengths of Aluminum Tubing to the ends of the Pipes with Zap-A-Gap.

Then I put some Apoxy on the seam and pressed it to fit around pretty well.

Next I put a little water on my finger and smoothed the Apoxy down pretty well. I will still need to sand a little in the morning.

Shinny Pipes!

I lightly Sanded the Pipes and Sprayed them with Tamiya Silver Leaf. I also added & painted a few more details.

I glued the Pipes in with Zap-A-Gap. I really like the look of the Aluminum Tubing at end of the Pipes.

A design that stirs fear in the hearts of stout young men and makes old people sad!
