Ira Posted September 2, 2014 Author Posted September 2, 2014 Frame Mods! Looks like I am going to need to remove some excess plastic from the Frame to fit the New Body. I used a Cut-Off Wheel to remove most of the plastic. I ended removing the rest of the excess plastic with an X-acto Knife and a Sanding Block. Top View. More Coming...
Ira Posted September 2, 2014 Author Posted September 2, 2014 This is going to be wild! Here is some inspiration! Thanks Jesse! Is That Alison Powered too?

Ira Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Uh-oh Ira's at it again!! Here's a tip: you can use bleach to strip chrome in less than a minute, although it doesn't take off the layer under the chrome and over the plastic, primer will take care of that, but make sure you wash it! Thanks for the Tip Glenn! Purple Power takes longer but it removes almost everything...

Ira Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 Big Beast Engine! Here is the Engine that comes with the Baja Beast. I cut off the Transmission/Rear End with a razor saw. Then I cut these 2 pieces off the Allison Transmission. Here is the Allison Transmission with the Baja Beast Rear End attached. Here is the Allison Engine with the New set up in place. More Coming...
DonW Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Great stuff I assume the transmission is made of titanium otherwise there may be a few issues when the lucky driver stands on the loud pedal!
Force Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Big Beast Engine! The transmission in front of the Allison engine is to reduce the propeller shaft speed to half of the crank shaft (the gear ratio is 2.00:1 so it reduces the prop shafts speed from the engines maximum 3000 rpm to 1500), it also reverse the rotation of the engine. The lower hole in the Allison transmission case is for the crank shaft and the upper is for the propeller shaft and they are connected with two gears and no clutch, this reducer gearing is not needed for this use so you could have used the clutch can from the original engine instead of the reducer gear and adapt it to the Allison engine for a convincing setup with a clutch. Just a thought.
Ira Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 That's a heck of a slice and dice you got going on there. : ) Thanks Ray!
Ira Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 That looks like a super project , Ira ! I've been wanting to get one of those VW Bus kits again ( I had both issues as a kid ; the yellow one and the red one ) . I'd like to stick the 8V-71 Detroit in-place of the kit's SBC ... Thanks John! Yeah, these Tom Daniel Kits are Great Fun. You should try one...
