1970 Ramchargers Super Stock Cuda

I am looking a building the 1970 Ramchargers Super Stock Cuda. Does anyone know what color the interior really was? It looks like from pictures I have found that it had a white interior but the dash doesn't really look white to me and why would the dash be white? I have never seen a white dash before in car. Could it have been a light gray?

It's reported that this is a survior. Some pictures show painted white bumpers with gray grille, some show white grille with chrome bumpers?

Those are ths photos I used as baseline for the one I built from resin years ago. though no Cuda came from the factory that I know if with that type of interior.

Correct,and I have serious doubts the car ran with that interior in it .

That said , finding pics of the car back in the day is tough, when you do a search and 90% of what comes back is this restored car

I remember seeing some photos of the car many years ago and ' I think ' it was black ,,but don't hold me to that. almost positive it had aftermkt seats in it .

I would say as originally raced back in 1970 it would have had a black dashboard. It could have had a black or a white interior with the black dash as new in 1970. All other colors would have had a matching color dash.

Also the seat insert material in the restored version does not appear to be the original material used in 1970. The insert stitching pattern is also incorrect for a stock 1970 Barracuda seat.

I would say sometime during its racing career changes were made to the interior as the restored version depicts.

Also, the dash & door panels in the restored version appear to have a non original pearl tint to them.

I have photos I took at Columbus in '86 at the springnationals...if I can find them I will post them,,,but the interior was all black, no back seat, etc...the reason it comes to mind is my friend that went with us on this trip said he would build his mpc original 70 cuda as this car,...pretty easy to build, white car, black interior,,,,if at the time, decals could be had for it, which they could not. ...the ace...

This car was raced under the Ramchargers team name, but, it was not a real team car. So, yes, it may not be as original as they claim since the car war built and raced from the early 70's until the 80's

They ran Dodge cars and it was only after they just became a parts division that they allowed these Plymouth cars to be run under their banner.

I would just paint the interior black

This particular car ( as shown ) was not raced in 1970.

I don't think it appeared as a Ramchargers car till either really late 70's or early 80's

I like to use Dupli-Color black trim paint on the seats and door panels.. It almost looks like fresh black leather when dry...

I just checked the Ramchargers site and they state 1974 as the first year this car was run. There are so many difference between a stock '70 Cuda interior and how it appears now. Any time during its racing life something may have been updated/changed for whatever reason.

Edit Even the Ramchargers site has contradicting info on this car. In one place they say '74 and in another stated its debut was at the Gator Nationals in '75.

Started to paint up a body for the Ramchargers Cuda Super Stock. Primed and painted with Tamiya Paints. White primer, Pure White and Mica Red. I purchased the Quarter Mile Replicas decal sheet for this car but once again, I believe the strips were a candy red on the real cars so, I taped and painted them. Have some clean up to do due to tape not sticking well in some areas but over all doesn't look to bad for shelve model. This was taken prior to clean up and spraying clear on the body.

So long as a car *looked like* the year it was competiting under , that was good enough for Super Stock . For an instance ; the triple black 1970 Hemi'Cuda convertible that's recently been restored . It was campaigned by Bill Bagshaw starting in c.1973 (complete with its $7,500 paint job !) as a 1971 in SS/EA . Its primary target was the SS/EA 1970 LS-6 Chevelle convertible (whose name and owners I've forgotten at this moment ...) .

So , to the point : by all means (V.I.N. , etc.) , Bagshaw's "1971" Hemi'Cuda was a cosmetically-updated 1970 . NHRA (et al.) didn't check VIN's ; they were more concerned that a car look its represented --and classification-- model year . The 1971 convertible had its shipping weight "fudged" so that it "weighed 'more'" , so that model would qualify for SS/E(A).

What I'm getting at : The alleged "Ramchargers'" 1970 'Cuda very well could have been a body-in-white 1972-1974 Barracuda hardtop , skinned as a "1970" . Good enough for SS/D(A) - SS/E(A).

If you don't mind how well does the red paint color match the red lettering of the decals?

Bill, actually the decals had the strips on them but everything I had seen showed the red strips to be a "candy" color with the lettering being a straight red. Not sure if it's just the pictures I've have seen or my eyes. I decided to try and paint the strips Tamiya Mica Red for the "candy" look and the color matched pretty close from the Ramchargers name to the painted stirps. Just no "candy" to the lettering.

Here's a picture of the decals I used from Scale Racing Replicas. One thing I noticed while decalsing the model was, that the TEAM CAR lettering seemed to be a different size from side to side on the decals. Still decals were some of the best that I have used.
