It's surprising how few people visit the large-scale Big Boyz forum here, or even know that it exists (yes, you can scroll down to what's below your basic screen). Regardless of the subject matter, these models are built by people who have extra space to add detail to their subjects. For any any type of kit, there's always something there to learn about detail and techniques that can be translated into other scale models.

I look at it Skip... I like a few of the large scale kits that use to be out....trouble is finding and affording them.

It's not so much about what the kit subjects are or how much they cost, it's about the ways the builders use to enhance detail -- just like any other subject on this forum. And the fact is, almost all of these kits have counterparts in smaller scales.

That is true Skip...one advantage of a larger scale kit is the vast opportunity for adding details beyond the norm. Almost anything done to one scale could be adapted to the other scales with the work. I once built a 1/8th? scale 81 Trans Am with opening doors made mine have power windows, etc. by adding wiring between the doors and body shell, opened the trunk added small light bulbs and a hidden battery and switch so they would work.

There are definitely some beautiful builds over in the big boys section. Lots of great things we can learn from. One of My Favs has to be Dave's (Comp1839) 1/8th scale Pro Mod Camaro. Everything is pretty much scratch built and I learn something new from every update. It's definitely one worth checking out.

I didn't really frequent "Big Boyz" until I started my 1/12 GT40 WIP. Now I check it out every time I visit the site. There's some truly inspirational work going on there. My next WIP, which I'll post up in the next few days or so, will be there as well... the 1/12 Lotus 72d JPS.

I am a frequent visitor to the BBF, and it generally the second place I look at on this forum.

I believe I have picked up more tips... and my model skills have improved the most...from the BB forum.

Since I really started getting into the larger scales, I've visited that area everytime I'm here. I think the biggest issue (nobody's fault) is that many of the builds don't get updated as often as the smaller scales, due to more work necessary to complete something.

The reason I don't post my work there...well, umm...I'm still trying to figure out how NOT to get glue on the windshield, LOL.
