unclescott58 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I hate to be a spoil sport here. But, I've rarely had a problem with the U.S. postal service around here. I've had more problems with FedEx and UPS. I'm happy when somebody sends me something through the mail. I think they do a good job overall. Scott
Tom Geiger Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 UPS performance at my house today? My wife came home and found a UPS package standing up against our garbage pail at the curb. Many people would take that as a sign that the package was in the garbage. That driver saved himself the one minute of coming up my driveway. Their best performance is backing the truck up the driveway and tossing a package from the drivers seat onto my driveway. This spring I found a package that was missing for a week all soggy and under my car. How does USPS handle a package too big for my mail box? They walk it up the driveway and put it on my covered front porch next to my front door. No comparison! A follow up from the above rant. I went to the UPS website and filed a complaint. Within a few hours I got an email from a human saying that someone would call me during next business day. I never received that call, but we got a UPS package (the other half of the garbage pail delivery) and it was delivered to my covered front porch! Guess they got the message.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Actually I thought she was looking for a bargain dentist since her mother had no front teeth.... The toothless, alcoholic daughter of our elderly neighbor and her free range three year old moved in with our poor elderly neighbor. It went on for about a year until the poor old guy sold the house and moved in with his son to get rid of her! So, she's, like, available? My kinda gal.

southpier Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 (edited) hard to know who to bash anymore. Edited September 14, 2014 by southpier
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 (edited) Which one? The elderly neighbor, the toothless alcoholic daughter, or the free-range three year old? Well, the elderly neighbor is male, the three-year-old is a tad young, so by the process on elimination we have only one option left. Since she's an alky, I figure I could get her tanked up and whisper sweet manufacturing stories in her ear. edit: OMG !!! There's a black PC-Police helicopter over my house. clovis Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 It couldn't hurt to try. What's the worst that could happen? It's good to hear that you've found so many really good folks working for the U.S.P.S. in your area. In over 28 years as a Postal Worker (as opposed to a "postal employee", if you see the difference), I've found that there are many standouts like that, folks who actually care about the customer. I like to think that I'm in that group, even though I work in a sorting facility and have no face-to-face interaction with customers. My local P.O. has no off-street parking, yet I'd rather go there than the one at the plant where I used to work. Lines move well, the clerks are polite, and things I sent from there are always handled gently, at least where I could see them. I still cringe when I think about the videos I've seen on YouTube shot by security cameras of UPS deliverymen just tossing packages over fences or onto porches, or left out in the rain in puddles, etc. There are always Postal delivery supervisors out on the streets keeping an eye on carriers at random, and if a carrier is seen doing something like that, they may well find themselves out of a job... until the union steps in and gets them their jobs back - with back pay. Management usually wimps out when pressed over these things. The crew at our local PO is really stellar. You couldn't ask for a better crew, except for the thief.
clovis Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 More likely the thief took the packages, opened them somewhere and said, "What is this junk?" Many years ago when we lived back in NJ, our newspaper was missing daily. We called the newspaper who sent the carrier back with a new one, but the third time she knocked on the door almost crying that she DID deliver it. Mystery was solved the next day. I watched it be delivered onto our walk, then a few minutes later the 3 year old next door ran up and took it. Upon confronting her mother, she said she had no idea where the kid was getting the papers from... yea right. I was told that around here, if the customer calls about a missing paper, the carrier gets $5 deducted from their pay, and they are supposed to redeliver the paper in person.
Tom Geiger Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 (edited) So, she's, like, available? My kinda gal. Man I walk away from the computer and all that happens ?? I wouldn't know where to start looking. And the last 20 years probably haven't been kind to her either! The elderly father is long dead. The three year old is probably 25-26 at this point though! Maybe cute but she'd call you "sir". Edited September 14, 2014 by Tom Geiger
