Lovely - but is it really wearing piecrust slicks on the rear?

I still remember seeing a competition Cobra in the late sixties / early seventies sitting on pole on the grid at Silverstone then spinning when the flag dropped to start the race...

It is beyond me to understand, excepting licensing fees, why there is not an up to date 1/24 or 1/25 scale 289 Cobra kit. The AMT came out in what: 1964? Except for the Revell 427 and the Fujimi replica of a 427 kit car, there is nothing else ever released. A couple resin transkits that are OOP. Its a car that straddles generations. Street, competition, FIA bodies all could be reached with a common chassis and minor parts change/additions. To say nothing of the Daytona coupe. Maybe when I win the Lotto I'll fund the cutting of some molds.

I hate to say it, but, it is almost refreshing to see a Cobra without Ol' Carrol's autograph on the glove box!

Wonder how much he charged per autograph. The guy knew every way to another buck.

The money went to his children's heart charity http://www.cscf.org/.

Carroll had had a heart transplant in '90 and a kidney transplant from his son in '96 when the meds preventing rejection of his heart killed his kidney.

RIP Shel, ya did a lot of good for others.

Accurate Miniatures had announced a 289 Cobra before they went belly up. I'd like to see it happen. Hope it does one day.

Wonder what happened to all their work on that kit? Hmmmm, Revell ? They did get the leftovers of the Corvette Grand Sports. :o

The Grand Sports they bought already made and bagged from the Sherrif's auction at Accurate's warehouse in North Carolina. They just had to make boxes and decal sheets.

MRC bought the name, Academy has the tools in their factory. I highly doubt any steel was cut, but there may have been some development done. More likely they were just feeling the waters.
