Petetrucker07 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) Has anyone built this kit. I seen it at my LHS and it intrigued me, deeply. I want to build it but its a bit pricey. Is it worth the money? Edited December 27, 2014 by Petetrucker07
highway Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Built it, I never even heard of it!!!! Me likey more info too!!
ferrarijoe Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Seems like a cool subject to build for something different. Would like to try it one day. It's a huge kit 40 inches long 17 inches high.
Petetrucker07 Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 It definitely takes up some shelf space. I think im gonna give it a shot, as soon as i get the funds. My LHS has it, 180 bucks. I know the bay is cheaper, im gonna be savin my pennies for sure now.
ferrarijoe Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) Scalehobbyist.com has it for $106.99 I buy from them all the time since no LHS. Cheapest For Tamiya Paint I Can Find too. Edited September 12, 2014 by ferrarijoe
Chuck Most Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Now that I know such a thing exists... I want one!
Petetrucker07 Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 I said the same thing Chuck, when i seen sittin on the shelf at my LHS
Chuck Most Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I think it's a bargain even for a hundred bucks... think about it, you bring that to the next show and there won't be twelve other models just like it on the tables.
Petetrucker07 Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 Very true. I cant imagine how much it cost to tool this up. Its pretty safe to say it was more than a '57 chevy.
bob terry Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I have 2 of this kit. The box as you know is huge. It is completely full. It obviously can be built, but don't expect to do this in a weekend. LOL It's somewhat intimidating to see all those frets of nothing but guard railing. Have fun. BobbyT
Petetrucker07 Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 Yes sir. I was lookin at pics of the parts. It is intimidating. This is definitely a kit your gonna want to keep track of the parts and be extremely careful to not loose something.
Thatswhatshesaid Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Does anyone have an extra set of instructions for this? Have the kit but no instruction sheet.
ferrarijoe Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Should be able to download from revell
1930fordpickup Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Seems like a cool subject to build for something different. Would like to try it one day. It's a huge kit 40 inches long 17 inches high. And it is 1:200 scale!!!
Petetrucker07 Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 I was thinkin what kinda vehicles i could put with it. I really dont know what would be close. Guess model railroad stuff would be the closest.
ferrarijoe Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Could put a Dora next to it about the same size when done.
Petetrucker07 Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) Well here it is. A Xmas present from my family. I think this will be a fun build. This will be my 1st non auto related build ever. I say this now but i know how i am, itll be a long slow build. A ton of small parts. A bunch of cables and rigging. I want to this right and not hack it up. Im gonna do my best to take my time building it. Edited December 27, 2014 by Petetrucker07
Dave Van Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I have the 1980's issue of this kit. Even back then it cost me the unheard of price of $60!!!!! It came in a foam box bottom that holds all the parts nicely. Always wanted to build.....doubt it will happen!!!
chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 N scale is 1:160 and Z scale is 1:220, so take your pick on railroad stuff.
Petetrucker07 Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) Thanks man. Thats what i needed was what railroad scale would be useful. Id like to get a few guys to put around it on the stairs and whatnot at least. Edited December 27, 2014 by Petetrucker07
chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I'm amazed myself that they actually have Z scale figures! I should pick up a few because I've been thinking about making a bowling trophy, but I can see a lot of uses for them.
SSNJim Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) 1:200 is becoming a popular ship scale now; there are several commercial figures and other accessories available in that scale. Of course, most figures are sailors, but they're available and worth looking at. Photoetched railings are available, too. One popular website is freetimehobbies.com , but there are others.
