ferrarijoe Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Lego is trying to see if there is enough support to release a 69 Vette. Made up of 1500 pieces. Go to link to support. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/77779
Snake45 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Cute, but not for me as long as real kits are still being made.
unclescott58 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Interesting. But, like Mr. Mesner it's not for me. Scott
Brizio Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 If I was 5-10 year old, I would love to have it, but now I prefer model kit.
ferrarijoe Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 This isn't a little kit it's around 1/10 scale and should go for $100 plus. I have the f1 car and that's huge about 20 inches long.
Brizio Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I know that is not little, but to me does not make to much sense to me. Probably because I grew up playing with Lego Technic, where they had cars around 1/10 or little bigger, with a lot of working parts. Steering, suspension, transmission, etc... Last one I build (late 80's) was this kit 8865, with 900 parts that I still have and also had a "working" 4 cylinder engine, 3 speed transmission, adjustable seats, retractable headlights. I know, it was not pretty like body shape and it was a "fantasy" car, but to me it is more interesting that this Corvette. A nice article about the kit 8865. http://www.technicopedia.com/8865.html On mine I closed the hood and modify the body little bit, add doors and roof.
John Goschke Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Looks like a convincing argument for a building a scale model kit of a Corvette.
Thatswhatshesaid Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I have the VW kits they put out. They are really cool and detailed kits. But I can see how it's not everyone's cup of tea. But I've been a Lego fan my whole life.
ferrarijoe Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 I still want the Unimog kit. It has a pneumatic crane on it. I think of them as models. And appreciate the design that goes into them. Like the f1 car when you move it the whole drive train moves. You can see the piston moving.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I think Lego could be a gateway for new model builders.
THarrison351 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 My kid (25) has always preferred Lego models over scale models. I think it is because he has very shaky hands and gets frustrated with the steadiness required to build glue models. He can also change things and be creative on the fly. I find them interesting, but I like regular models because they look realistic in scale.
Guest Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Pretty sure this product is aimed at kids, not adults. Mega Blocks makes some pretty awesome stuff, Halo vehicles etc. Believe it or don't, but adults are into those too. The larger kits have over 2000 pieces and cost $200 plus. They have instruction booklets like 56 pages plus long. I helped my son build his first one (600 plus pieces) and quickly learned that if you don't use the exact piece the instructions call for, you'll be tearing it back apart to get that piece. They can make a pretty impressive model when finished. Not much different than model cars. They're made for kids. But, adults build them too. We just like to think they were made for us.

Actually, LEGO has a huge adult fan base. Check out any of the high detail automotive kits they've put out in the last few years. All geared towards adults. There is also a series of highly detailed buildings. They release a new one each year. LEGO Star Wars has a huge following as well. They did the Death Star a few years back. Biggest kit ever. Over 5000 pieces and retailed around $600. So it would not surprise me to see this hit the market. LEGOS are just another creative medium.
Jaguar man 21 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I'm not a corvette fan but this is awsome
