I know that is not little, but to me does not make to much sense to me. Probably because I grew up playing with Lego Technic, where they had cars around 1/10 or little bigger, with a lot of working parts. Steering, suspension, transmission, etc... Last one I build (late 80's) was this kit 8865, with 900 parts that I still have and also had a "working" 4 cylinder engine, 3 speed transmission, adjustable seats, retractable headlights. I know, it was not pretty like body shape and it was a "fantasy" car, but to me it is more interesting that this Corvette.

A nice article about the kit 8865.

On mine I closed the hood and modify the body little bit, add doors and roof.

I still want the Unimog kit. It has a pneumatic crane on it. I think of them as models. And appreciate the design that goes into them. Like the f1 car when you move it the whole drive train moves. You can see the piston moving.

My kid (25) has always preferred Lego models over scale models. I think it is because he has very shaky hands and gets frustrated with the steadiness required to build glue models. He can also change things and be creative on the fly. I find them interesting, but I like regular models because they look realistic in scale.

Pretty sure this product is aimed at kids, not adults. Mega Blocks makes some pretty awesome stuff, Halo vehicles etc. Believe it or don't, but adults are into those too. The larger kits have over 2000 pieces and cost $200 plus. They have instruction booklets like 56 pages plus long. I helped my son build his first one (600 plus pieces) and quickly learned that if you don't use the exact piece the instructions call for, you'll be tearing it back apart to get that piece. They can make a pretty impressive model when finished. Not much different than model cars. They're made for kids. But, adults build them too. We just like to think they were made for us. ;)

Actually, LEGO has a huge adult fan base. Check out any of the high detail automotive kits they've put out in the last few years. All geared towards adults. There is also a series of highly detailed buildings. They release a new one each year. LEGO Star Wars has a huge following as well. They did the Death Star a few years back. Biggest kit ever. Over 5000 pieces and retailed around $600. So it would not surprise me to see this hit the market. LEGOS are just another creative medium.
