Hey all, first post on here. Been reading and lurking on here for a few years, but haven't posted anything. There are some incredible builds on here, great job!

I've been thinking of what to build next, didn't want to buy another kit, but pick something from my shelf. I have 2 of the Revell 67 Chevelle pro street kits both in different stages, so I figured let's try and finish one of these up. I've always been a fan of strip down, plain Jane sleepers, so that's what I'm going for. 1967 Chevelle 300, the base model of all Chevelles...it'll have something big under the hood though.

Right now I an in the middle of converting the body over to a 2 door post, 300 car. Should have that done by the weekend, pics as my progress moves along.

Has anyone done a 300 conversion before? I thought there was a kit out there awhile back, but I can't remember.

Welcome, Kovey! I'm fairly new nere myself, only a couple weeks. This is a great bunch of guys and I think you'll like it here.

I've never done a 300 Chevelle but I'm planning to someday. I'll be following your build with great interest. I think I know how I'll do mine but want to see how you do it. Post up some pics as soon as you can.

welcome. I like your style already, can't beat pro street! what are you using for the roof on this? someone has a resin body of this, just don't remember who. may have to do some searching. look forward to seeing it in progress.

I THINK the hardtop body can be converted to a 300 by filing off the flying buttresses and then adding the door and window framing. That's how I'm planning to do it, anyway.

Wow! Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

My plan right now is to finish removing the flying buttress rear window and reforming the deck lid...I'll add the posts and trim once I figure out the back window. If all fails, then I will look at ordering a resin, but I'm thinking this should be a somewhat easy undertaking.

Yeah, unfortunately the deck filler (not sure if I specified filler) lid is different than SS and Malibu cars...the 300s panel looks like it curve up to meet the bottom of the window.

Oh wow! That turned out awesome Greg. Great build.

I'm doing a lot of guessing and eyeballing here with the correct back window size and exact roof lines...nothing can be easy.

Don't mind the paint, it's not staying. And somehow I managed to lose the truck for my 300 project, so I had an old 66 Malibu I was able to swap the trunk from.

Side by side comparison of SS rear window and soon to be 300 rear window. Gotta figure out this deck filler and framing around the window.

Flying buttress removed. Slow progress but it's getting there.

It takes more than filing off the buttress' to make the 300 roof. The rear quarter windows and rear window also need a lot of work. I was kinda thinking about doing the 300 when I was working on my '66 Malibu conversion. A friend also suggested doing it. I still may when I get back in on it. Here's a photo of a 300

Haha yeah the back windows definitely do need a lot of work to get right. The rear window seems to be the biggest pain. Hopefully I can figure out what I want to do with that so I can get this going.

I see from this pic that some adjustment of the roof/side window area will be needed. Not sure if material needs to be removed or added, but something has to change. Very interesting pic, thanks for posting it.

I think the top edge of the rear quarter window needs to come back a bit...in the 1:1 photo, it looks like the front and back edges of the C-pillar are relatively parallel to each other..i.e. the front edge of the C-pillar on the sedan is more vertical than it is on the hardtop.

Great input guys...I went ahead and brought the top edge of the rear window back some. Basically I just removed the existing window frame and smoothed from there.

Where I'm at right now...

Great profile 1:1 shot. Looking at that, I think removing material vs adding it is the way to go, and it looks like you're on the right track.

I agree with Snake. I have done this kind of conversion with a Plymouth a few years back, it is harder then it looks. On that note what your doing is looking great so far. Keep them pictures coming.

You're going to have to take some material out of the quarter window/ C pillar area to get the quarter window shape right. You're getting there though. The more I look at this thread, the more I think I'm going to have to do this to my '66 conversion. I'm on a Chevelle kick right now anyway. I just got finished with a set of tail lights for the '69.
