Mopar - D Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 Carl I'm thinking maybe a creat motor and maybe some other small parts.
slusher Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Carl I'm thinking maybe a creat motor and maybe some other small parts. That would look really good...
Greg Myers Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 where did all the blue stripe tires come from ?
rsxse240 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 this build reminds me of an old hot wheels car that was one of my favorites: the A Truckin' hot rod dump truck
ChrisPflug Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Looking good but in real life that tunnel ram wouldn't work very well on a Hemi
DonW Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Looking good but in real life that tunnel ram wouldn't work very well on a HemiWhy not? In my experience a long inlet tract = strong top-end performance.
Mopar - D Posted October 9, 2014 Author Posted October 9, 2014 Gregory the blue stripe slicks came with the kit and for the front wheels I used a blue gel pen to change the white stripes on the front wheels.
ChrisPflug Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 The intake and exhaust ports on a Hemi are evenly spaced rather than paired like a Mopar wedge, Chevy, etc. so the runners on that particular piece wouldn't be lined up with the intake ports in the heads Why not? In my experience a long inlet tract = strong top-end performance.

I'll bet he's workin' on a custom manifold or two right now to fix this problem.

Still a good model and the inlet issue makes a good talking point. I'd put a smiley here but mine aren't available today for some reason.
Mopar - D Posted October 9, 2014 Author Posted October 9, 2014 Thanks guys for pointing out my inlet manifold problem I did not check for that when I was going through my parts box and with most of my parts being MOPAR's I missed this detail.
Dave Van Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 this build reminds me of an old hot wheels car that was one of my favorites: the A Truckin' hot rod dump truck I still have that one in my collection. I kinda think the model below was inspired by that HW. I had always wanted to do a hot rod dump truck..... This is what I ended up with. Now that the AMT C cab is out again....I'll build another..... 1/25 scale BTW with Muscle Machine wheels and tires
Mopar - D Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 Gregory your correct got from work and could not wait to get this fixed so here's where I'm at with it.
Mopar - D Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 Sprayed the clear coat on and have the rear end glued in place. Also I was at Hobby Lobby today and they have this kit now.
Tom Geiger Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Great work, I just found this thread! That is the coolest kit! I had never had one, so when I got mine home and opened the box I couldn't put it down. I was twisting parts off trees like a 12 year old! I've been looking to get a second kit to build all the versions have in my head right now..... so you have at least one more car coming from that box... so what will it be?
Mopar - D Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 Tom the other one will be a factory stock.
Mopar - D Posted October 11, 2014 Author Posted October 11, 2014 (edited) Made little progress while the clear coat is curing. Edited October 11, 2014 by Mopar - D
rsxse240 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I was at Hobby Lobby today too, I REALLY wanted to get this kit, but I had just come from Harbor Freight and had spent my allowance on tools for my real car. Maybe next week. If anyone else goes to Hobby Lobby, be sure to pull up the Hobby Lobby coupon page with your smart phone and show them the 40% off "coupon" on your phone (they need to see the code on your screen) I did get a couple of mixing bottles for airbrush paints.
slusher Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Awesome progress Dan, I really like this build. What green did you use on the body??
