kilrathy10 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) Got another one going, Boys....I've always wanted to do one of these.....The Pete 377 comes from Italeri, of course, and the flatbed is going to be of my own design....I see these things every day, everywhere, all over the place, but not in my collection....Time to change that.... I'm going to build the Pete straight from the box, this time with NO stretch, if you can believe that.....Well, that is, apart from a scratch built headache rack to be added, later....Orange will be the color, once again..... The trailer is scratched up from, mostly memory....Not to represent any particular brand, though....It might resemble something out there, but that will be pure coincidence.....There will be no real suspension detail on this one, as this is my first attempt, and I want to get the basic design down.....I'll try my hand at that on subsequent builds, perhaps.....Wheels and tires will come from a Freightliner kit that I had some leftover parts from.....Anyway, here we go with the pics..... Well, as soon as Photobucket stops screwin' around, I'll get some pics, anyway.... Edited October 29, 2014 by kilrathy10
slusher Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I enjoy your builds JT, looking forward to this one...
Superpeterbilt Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Jeez man, looks like youve been pretty hard at it already. Very impressive work on the trailer. This will look great
Petetrucker07 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) WOW! Lookin good JT. Like you said not to look like any brand but may end up lookin like 1, the rear end resembles a Reitnouer. I have something like it started myself, this may be just the inspiration i need to get going again, and finally build a 379. Dont forget them signature JT tool boxes between the axles on the trailer. Wh..Wh..Wh..WHAT! NO STRETCH! You feelin ok? As usual. Ill be lookin in on this! Great start. scale trucker Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 looks good so far..i hope those parts arrive soon so yyou can get the chassis built
kilrathy10 Posted October 4, 2014 Author Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) Thanks Guys.....I've been able to work pretty feverishly on the trailer since I discovered the missing parts that my new best buddy, Gordon, (scale trucker) is sending me....Thanks, again, Dude....I didn't want to post anything till I found the parts, but now..............I really appreciate you, Gordon.....You're making this one possible, for sure..... And, as suggested by Clayton, I will be leaving the roof spoiler off, as well as leaving the sleeper top and cab roof, removable....I've never built one of these without stretching it, before....Seems odd, but that's gonna make this one EASY, so to speak..... As I said, earlier, I'm using the rims and tires from the Freightliner Cabover kit.....I have to say, I really like these things......They're gonna look awesome..... Chris guthro Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Lookin good man! I love that trailer!! Got to pay a to make one for me lol
kilrathy10 Posted October 4, 2014 Author Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) Y'all ain't gonna believe this, but I'm almost done with this thing.....Just gotta add some flaps, lights, and conspicuity markings......The tool boxes, also, ended up being slung too low, but I'll fix that......Gonna divert my attention to the tractor, for now.... Petetrucker07 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Looks amazing. You do a few of them like you did your race haulers. Ill take 1 right now. This is gonna be a really nice combo
Truck parts Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 JT, Great build. What did you use to make the frame. I would like to build a flat bed someday, but I'am not sure how to make the taper in the frame.
kilrathy10 Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) Most of this is done with .060 plastic, Gordon.....I just cut pieces out to whatever I think I need.....Since I'm more about the over all appearance of the finished model and not total accuracy, I can get away with just about anything.....Just like building a fence....If it looks right, it is..... The arch was, in effect, an afterthought....I totally intended to build it that way, but I forgot to draw my pattern as such....I ended up using another piece to form the arch on both frame rails.....
