am73grand Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) This is my first figure kit. I have been a life long Elvira fan and when I saw this kit listed in Amazing Figure Modeler Magazine I had to have it. Beautiful casting and an excellent likeness of Casandra Peterson. As with all resin started by cleaning all the parts really well. Started by painting the skirt Krylon Ultra flat black: Painted the upper portion and this is some of the masking I did: Removed the tape and have minor clean up to do: Edited October 27, 2014 by am73grand
am73grand Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Then I started painting the face: Oh man this looks ROUGH!!!!! What a difference the hair makes! This is where I am at so far. I'm hoping to paint her legs this weekend. Thanks for looking!
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I used to stay up late to watch her. Interesting girl, for sure. I wasn't convinced of the accuracy of the facial likeness until I saw your work with her makeup. Remarkable how much it actually looks like her once the hair goes on. What is the nominal scale?
unclescott58 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Looks creepy with out the hair! Very nice job so far. Scott
am73grand Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 After three attempts I finally got her legs painted and installed. I also glued her upper and lower halves together. I also got her arms rough painted so I need to clean them up and detail them before I can glue them on. Thanks for looking!!!!
am73grand Posted October 27, 2014 Author Posted October 27, 2014 Well, she's all done and on display. I'm pretty happy with how she came out. Especially since this is my first figure kit build. Thanks for looking!!!
Cato Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Excellent work. How did you do the stocking? It's most lifelike; the color, sheen and lace pattern-that's really good work. What materials and methods?
am73grand Posted October 27, 2014 Author Posted October 27, 2014 Thanks everyone she was a really fun project! Excellent work. How did you do the stocking? It's most lifelike; the color, sheen and lace pattern-that's really good work. What materials and methods? Cato, I started by priming the leg with Testors White Lacquer primer. Then masked off the top of the leg and sprayed the unmasked portion at around 15 psi with my airbrush. Paint was brown Badger opaque airbrush paint mixed about 50/50 with black. The leg was sprayed from about 12 inches away. Unmasked the leg, added the spider web craft tape and then a strip of lace cut off a bigger piece. PM me if you have more questions
Cato Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Great explanation. Only question; can you give me Elvira's phone number?

jrherald420 Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 stunning! Did she come with the base too?
am73grand Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 stunning! Did she come with the base too? Thanks!! She did come with a base that looks like cobble stones. I really thought it was plain so I didn't use it. I will be putting her on a different base. what you see in the pics is my mantle with a runner on it
