Here's an AMT Superboss Funny car that I'm currently working on. It's an out of the box build with three different varieties of Testor's 1 coat lacquer. The decals are from the kit.

I need to finish the wiring and the engine parts, and I'd like to add foil and a clearcoat as well. Comments welcome!

Looks good so far! Those early door-slammer AWB funny cars, most of them didn't have fancy aluminum panel interiors; the guts were stripped factory stuff painted black or sometimes with that "spatter" paint. Also, I believe blue plug wires were about a decade away.

that looks great, bill...the color combo is super nice with your decal choices. sure makes me want to start one of the 2 of these kits I bought. looking forward to seeing your car finished...nice clean work....the ace.... ;)

Nice job. I've done the nova and the mustang and have had issues with getting the chassis and frame secured to the body. You might want to get the interior glued to the body and then the chassis to the interior.

will be watching for more.

What did you use to paint the windows blue?

I think the latest issue of that kit comes with both clear and blue-tinted windows.

Looks really nice to me, I like your paint work, inside and out & the engine wiring goes with the glass tint - keep up the good work Bill !!!

As of 11-1, I've completed the foiling, the headlights and tail lights are now tinted, and a layer of clearcoat has gone on. The plug wires and header collectors have been added.

I'm hoping to complete the build this weekend, if football and time cooperate. As always, comments welcome!

Nice looking build Bill, great colors on the body. Per bob's question about the fit of the interior/chassis/body, (mainly the interior fit inside the body) have you had any problem's? I'm working on the same kit and have had to do all kinds of stuff to get things to line-up properly. Thanks, Gene.

hope to tackle this tonite -stuff seems to line up during dry fit which usually means trouble when glue is applied ;^)

...if any of this may help....I have found that with the amt awb cars that I have built,,,,the easiest way to fit the final steps together starts with the interior tub being glued to the frame rails,,,,,once dried, I use some 5-minute epoxy on each corner of the interior tub corners,,,that is to say a bit on the rear edges of the parcel shelf,,,and a bit on the front edges where the firewall and interior sides meet. at this point, your glass and any other body components are finished off, so once the body unit is lowered onto the interior/chassis combo...the epoxy will allow a little moving and positioning to align everything to your liking. always remember that your wheelbase also should align nicely, and check to make sure that the rear kick area of the interior is not exposed and visible thru the rear wheel well opening. regular slow drying epoxy works well too, if your not quite sure if everything will fly on the first go-round. the epoxy will just pick off in one or two pieces once dried if you have to try again. hope this may help........the ace...... :) oh, one other thing...its important that your glass is secured not only under the roof itself, but tight and free of any flash or moulding globs at the bottom edges of the front windshield and the rear glass....if they sag down a little or have flash on them, your body fit will suffer....I use zap a gap to weld those areas to the under body , front and rear....the ace....

actually, gene, I use zap for jobs like that. as you know, that bond is the best. even after the epoxy is dry as mentioned in my last notes, I usually apply some zap to hidden areas for extra strong bonding for body to interior, then your sure......the epoxy makes movement and adjustment possible, where zap usually will not.....hope this helps....these amt awb kits are easy builds, just be certain of all your fit and finish, so that all sub assemblies line up properly, and enjoy the ride........ .....the ace

This is an AMT Superboss Funny Car out of the box build. The paint is red, orange, and gold Testors 1 coat Laquer, with decals from the kit.

Thanks for all of the tips and feedback from earlier. Comments welcome!
