someone could please tell me what the two red buttons under the microphone/ shift knob do? not afterburners? ejection seat I'd believe.

I'd guess the red buttons are for the exhaust "cut-outs"

I'd have to agree. At first I thought ignition and kill switch but the is an ignition switch in the dash so I'd agree on the cutouts...
