Petetrucker07 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 I think Plant has hard time singing the songs, and is avoiding having to admit it. I think they should David Coverdale to fill in. But then its not Zeppelin. Who really knows what Robert Plant is thinking, or not thinking.
Harry P. Posted November 14, 2014 Author Posted November 14, 2014 I think Plant has hard time singing the songs, and is avoiding having to admit it. I think you may just be on to something there. Zep songs are so iconic... we all hear them in our heads the way Plant used to sound. These days, he just can't hit those high notes anymore. It's normal and natural... the guy is in his 60s, he can't do what he did when he was in his 20s, but he doesn't want to admit it (or be seen in public trying to do it). Jimmy Page can still play guitar like he did 40 years ago... but a vocalist can't do what they could do 40 years ago. I think you may very well have come across the real reason Plant said no.
bismarck Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Very true...I never looked at it that way.
Jantrix Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Guys, the whole story is a farce anyway. http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/12/showbiz/music/robert-plant-led-zeppelin-richard-branson/
bismarck Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 (edited) It had ME going.. . If they ever did have a reunion tour, I probably couldn't afford the tickets anyway. Edited November 14, 2014 by bismarck
chunkypeanutbutter Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Don't like Led Zeppelin??!! THATS BLASPHOMY!! lol Stairway, Immigrant Song, Levy Break, Misty Mountain Hop..... come on man!!!! Whats NOT to like?? Maybe Branson should offer them to play to him standing on a bigger bail of money. For that kind of cash, I would have played "Stairway" with chopsticks and rubber bands on the spot!!! Just don't like Plant. Besides, they're way too touted as being the best rock band by a lot of people. Whatever, I'll leave my opinions somewhere else.
Lunajammer Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 The whole tearing up the contract seemed a little dramatic to be true. However with so many specific details about the offer and tour, and the delay of a couple days before anyone confirmed or denied the story makes me think there may have been a minuscule grain of embellished truth to it. The rest seems like damage control.
Chuck Most Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I think they should David Coverdale to fill in. But then its not Zeppelin. Why not? Plant himself referred to David Coverdale as "David Cover Version".

They have a few good songs, but they have a lot of horrible songs as well. I don't know the exact names, but something about dancing days, and the one that breaks down into a congo line. Overall, I feel the band is over rated and given too much credit. Also, from what I've read, they're horrible people, as well. I also hate Great White and Whitesnake, but either Jack or Dave could probably stand in for Plant if they wanted to do a tribute type show.. Edited December 10, 2014 by Zarana-X
bismarck Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Yep. Zepps antics during their heyday sure didn't help their reputation any. I like quite a few of their songs, but they also had some real audio turds as well. Music is subjective. what one person likes, another doesn't care for. I'm not a fan of Great White or Whitesnake either. Both lead singers are too full of themselves. I'm a zep fan, but I'm not gonna poo poo on anyone who doesn't agree.
Petetrucker07 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I dont really care for zeppelin either. Im not big on pink floyd or the beatles. Yes, they made some great music, its just not for me. Same goes for the "hair bands", there are some good songs and some really, really bad songs. There are a few zep songs i like, but not many.
tbill Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I am a big fan, I will also admit they have a few clunker songs, but 99% of the library is terrific. they seem to have an album for every mood [for me anyway]. you can also hear lot of different types of music in their 'catalog', rock, blues, country, etc., lot of good stuff to be heard, don't let the songs played to death on the radio sour you, lot of good tunes that don't make the air waves [or very often anyway]. having said that, keep your ears and mind open, I listen to everything from Tony Bennett[sp?] to Metallica [who made an album so bad I won't mention the name that can't be mentioned, lol], lot of good tunes out there if ya take a minute to listen
Petetrucker07 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 That metallica album, created "anger" didnt it.
Danno Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Huh? What does any of this have to do with the Mills Brothers?
tbill Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 That metallica album, created "anger" didnt it. I was 'angry' that I bought it after listening to it
Chuck Most Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I was 'angry' that I bought it after listening to it You mean, you didn't enjoy the drums that sounded like banging on trash cans and the complete lack of guitar solos?
