chunkypeanutbutter Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Was it the Eaton Yale Escorts or the Rothman's Escorts that ran 13s front, 14s rear?
afx Posted April 9, 2015 Author Posted April 9, 2015 Was it the Eaton Yale Escorts or the Rothman's Escorts that ran 13s front, 14s rear? All the Works car ran on 13" diameter wheels to the best of my knowledge. The did on rare occasion (when the driver insisted) use 15" wheels on rough surface events but they where a different style Minilite wheel. The standard tarmac wheels where 13x8 front and 13x10 rear. The width of the rears continued to grow over time until they reached 13x13!
afx Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 Those wheels look great on there JC!!! Thanks Joe.
afx Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 Want to test your patience? Try drilling out .035" (.88 mm) rod to make spark plug boots.

afx Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 This is far as I can go with the engine before installing it in the chassis to finish plumbing & wiring. Still need to install the fan but wanted to show the pulleys and belts that will mostly be hidden once the fan is installed. Sorry for the lousy pictures.
mustang1989 Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Lousy pictures? Where? Believe me I've seen lots worse than this! She's lookin' good all dressed up there with no where to go bud!!
dublin boy Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 (edited) Never seen the plug leads going forwards, I thought they usually went straight down beside/between the carbs. Maybe I'm thinking of the Twin Cam, not the BDA. There's mesh on the airfilter that you didn't mention, it's quite small, how did you make it? More top notch work JC. afx Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 (edited) Shay, I have seen the wires routed both ways. It would be difficult to route the plug wires between the carbs and not interfere with my throttle linkage so I was forced to go forward. I still need to shorten and tidy up the wires a bit. They aren't yet glued into the cylinder head. The mesh on the air filter is some leftover material from a Tamiya rally kit. Edited April 16, 2015 by afx
dublin boy Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Just keeping you on your toes as we say over here JC
afx Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 Just keeping you on your toes as we say over here JC No problem Shay, I appreciate all your help.
dublin boy Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I'm not sure how much help I actually am JC! LOL . I can almost smell the paint. I assume you have something near the actual Eaton's Yale blue, or was it a factory colour?
afx Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 The chassis is painted (white) but I haven't settled on the shade of blue yet for the body. I haven't found any information on the paint color of the 1:1 cars.
om617 Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Engine looks really good. Great job on the inside and details.
afx Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 Tamiya TS-15 might work over white primer Yea that is the color Reji Models recommends on their decal sheet but it looks a bit dark to me. Applying it over white primer would lighten it. I have also thought about TS-44 over gray primer. Probably go the TS-15 route.
afx Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 Engine looks really good. Great job on the inside and details. Thanks Tommy. I had to crank up the brightness on the engine photos and everything looks washed out. I'll try to take some photos with natural light.
afx Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 Chassis and interior painted. Rear axle assembled and painted.
afx Posted April 19, 2015 Author Posted April 19, 2015 Looking good. Thanks Shay. There aint nuthin' wrong with that JC!! Thanks Joe.
