aurfalien Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) Hi, So I managed to buy a child hood dream car of mine, a 904! I may or may not turn it into a GT but the kit is rather interesting. I have yet to dawn it with my own eyes but it has metal parts with engine and tranny detail. I've included a photo of the box. Has any one heard of auto-kit? If it turns out to be a buzz kill for me as I have my own expectations of this bad boy, mebbe I'll trade some one here for other fromage. Daddyfink Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 That looks pretty cool! Mods, can we get this moved to Obscure kits thread? Definitely belongs in there http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=56542
jbwelda Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I have seen those before; quite a lot of work if I recall correctly. I think it is all white metal and quite flashy (not in a good way). should be fun, maybe get a quad cam motor from the fujimi enthusiasts 356 kit? jb
Earl Marischal Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I think it might be a British kit from 1970s. Now sold by South Eastern Finecast www.sefinecast.co.uk steve
sjordan2 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) Here's some good reference. http://www.classicandsportscar.com/classifieds/classic-cars/porsche/other-models/porsche-904-6-works-targa-florio/3065953 This car has been issued in kit form, plastic and metal versions, by several model companies... http://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&hl=en&source=hp&q=1%2F24+porsche+904+model+kit&gbv=2&oq=1%2F24+porsche+904+model+kit&gs_l=img.12...2138.13936.0.15516.28.6.0.22.22.0.134.725.0j6.6.0....0...1ac.1.34.img..16.12.738.UOHjYjyrfXs Edited November 19, 2014 by sjordan2
PeeBee Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Yep. South Eastern Finecast, and I think also under the banner Western Models at one time (I may be mistaken here). British white metal kits that have been around since the '60s. Low parts count, some flash and bending, but very fine engraving. I had their Bugatti Type 59 GP car (it melted in my man-cave fire) and I still have their '29 MB SSK. They're still in business. They make a hand-laced wire-wheel kit that they sell separately, and that Jeff Etzel included in his Miller, Duesenberg and Frontenac Indy kits.

aurfalien Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 I'll post some un-boxing pics when it shows. Looks like early part of Dec. Pretty stoked.
aurfalien Posted November 20, 2014 Author Posted November 20, 2014 Thanks man. Too bad I have to wait soo long before seeing the kit. I'm actually eager to post an un-boxing review of it on this forum. I was going to get the Monogram 904 kit but after reading reviews on it, I'm glad that i didn't. Still, check out this guys work; http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/4/t/90121.aspx
jbwelda Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I always wondered whether this kit you are getting shared anything with the monogram 904...and wasn't there also an Aurora 904 or maybe it was a 908? be interesting to know of any similarities. jb
