I have been working off and on for some time on a 1980 Camaro for my son that will be a replica of his 1:1 car. Where the issue comes in now is the fact that the car is not a Z28, but rather a Berlinetta. I have been wondering what to do regarding the three "Berlinetta" scripts - one on each roof pillar and the third on the rear deck lid. Has anyone here ever made decals of such scripts or emblems from photographs? I realize that one will have to transfer the scripts onto decal sheets - does anyone have any suggestions? A decal may have to do since no actual scripts are available. Suggestions???

That could be a tough one. They are pretty small, I expect, and will be small to get good definition for the decal. Also, if it chrome it will be hard to print a decal since there's no white. On white paper you'd have to trim it. Sorry I'm no help other than what you can't do.

If the script occurs on the body mold, search other posts on this forum for subjects like making foil scripts and the use of Bare-Metal Foil on scripts. Apparently some of our more accomplished members are good at putting BMF over scripts, cutting away the excess tightly, and using thinner to remove the paint over the scripts after body painting.

BUT

Are you saying the script or artwork is not available? Then you'll probably need to make your own art and find someone with an ALPS printer that has foil printing capability. Otherwise, find someone who offers foil transfer printing service from your own design.

This is one of those things that comes down to "how bad do you want to do it?"

Depending on your photo editing capabilities, you could take a straight on shot, raise the contrast to stark black, and reduce it to the size you need. Again, depending on your printer's resolution, you could print it on clear decal film in black or an additive-color gray, but like the man said, no white. That could look pretty good on a lightish color car.

Or, you could go to all the trouble to make your own PE parts. Plenty of reference material out there on doing it.

Here's a little kid demonstrating making PE circuit boards. Same technique can work for PE parts too.

Fun with modeling !! :)

Do you know if there's ever been any year Berlinetta done in 1/25th? If so, if you could get your hands on one, you might be able to make a mold of the script & make your own. Outside of that......You got me! My printer won't even print well enough to print small detail decals. Steve
