SpitShineTommy Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 So my original post got deleted by accident. So here it is again, I'm giving the dio thing a try. Going for a Porsche outlaw garage, with a Fujimi 356 and a 911. I made the floor and walls with plaster of Paris. I followed a "how to" by Ken Hamilton. Im also using the Fujimi tool kit. A lot more in the works and planning the side walls and doors. And I still have to start on the 356 outlaw. I'm still waiting for a few things in the mail to attach the walls and really start assembly. Thanks for looking!
crazyrichard Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 very nice .. love the way you painted that desk .. the tones and all
SpitShineTommy Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 Thanks guys. I should be able to get some time this weekend to get the doors finished, and get the walls attached
FullPowerGarage Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 (edited) Somebody allready asked how you've done the walls, I was waiting for your answer but some topics got deleted, so I ask it now. Can you please tell us how you've done the beautifull walls? And is it simple? Edited December 12, 2014 by FullPowerGarage
SpitShineTommy Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 http://public.fotki.com/khamilton/models/model_how-to/how-to-make-deterio/ Jamie, here is the "how to" I followed by ken Hamilton. I used plaster of Paris, and the results were pretty good. There are some bubbles in the wall and floors. I did it 3 times, and I could not get rid of them. So I'm just gonna go with it. I also cracked the floor, but I think I'll be able to hide it with the lift . I found it to be simple. Just set your stuff up, mix and pour. Don't wait because the plaster dries fast.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Where'd you get that cool laptop? Love the Porsches.
SpitShineTommy Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 Where'd you get that cool laptop? Love the Porsches. eBay buddy. The evil bay. Search dioramas or g scale, there is a plethora of items to add to a dio, if it doesn't make sense to scratch build the item. Since this is my first rodeo, I'm opting to buy some of this stuff. Like the door in the picture. I found that on eBay, next go around I'll try to scratch build it. I feel like the posters are a bit small, I will probably redo them.
Yenkocamaro Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I actually like the wall and floor the way they are. It gives your dio character, and an older building look. Props. Cheers Lance Happy Holidays!
FullPowerGarage Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the tutorial! Edited December 24, 2014 by FullPowerGarage
SpitShineTommy Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 Thanks guys. Didn't do much over the holiday weeks. Hopefully I'll get some time in this weekend. Happy New Years y'all.
SpitShineTommy Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 I got the idea from this cool documentary I saw a while back. Opted for cinder instead of brick. Enjoy it if you haven't seen the video before.
SpitShineTommy Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) Debating whether to add this brick wall to the side? Edited January 5, 2015 by SpitShineTommy
crazyrichard Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 hard one .. i would say yes because it creates difefference .. but on the other hand the floor and block wall are so matching and nice .. maybe its best to do a wall like the block wall there .... like i said hard one
SpitShineTommy Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 I know Rich, I don't know. I'm going to build wooden sliding doors, so I think that will make it work. I will distress some of the bricks with different colors. I used the plastruct brick sheet, and sponged on plaster in the cracks. If I don't like it with the doors, I'll make a cinder wall.
SpitShineTommy Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 I've been too busy lately, I need to get back to this!
