dublin boy Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 I had a good teacher, his name is Geoff. LOL
dublin boy Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 Masked up for the black trim, took a brave pill and got the rattlecan out The windscreen (fits from the outside) has the rubber seal molded into the part itself, so I'll do that with a black marker.
GeeBee Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Looks like the brave tablets worked, looking great Shay ...
dublin boy Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 Cheers Geoff. Obviously the pics get bigger if you click on them, am I resizing too small? I think they're 600 x 400
afx Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 (edited) Nice work Shay. You should consider signing up with a photo sharing website (I use Fotki, other use Photobucket) and post your pictures that way. The forum has a maximum limit on the number of pictures you can post directly but no limit if you use an external link. If you haven't already you are going to start getting messages that the file attachment is too large and the size limit will just keep shrinking until you can't post attachments at all. dublin boy Posted January 15, 2015 Author Posted January 15, 2015 The hood/uptop got some paint, it's a bit bright but helps with the dark paint, I hope! I'm still sorry I didn't paint it red, I could have had a check engine light on all the time like Penny from the Big Bang thingy
GeeBee Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I'm still sorry I didn't paint it red, I could have had a check engine light on all the time like Penny from the Big Bang thingy I'm pretty sure if you were sitting in Penny's Rabbit Convertible, your eye's would not be on the bloody dashboard .....
dublin boy Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 The engine bay needs to be built up, it's not molded into the shell. This is going together well so far, at least as good as a Tamiya. The distrubutor is really tiny, so it's not wired, still needs to be tidied up a bit though.
GeeBee Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Very nice work Shay, your detail painting is getting better with each model you build, keep up the good work ....
dublin boy Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 Might look nice, but I was having terrible trouble getting the chassis and engine bay test fitted up into the shell. I took the engine bay back out and had a better look at it and yep, now it fits. Sometimes I shouldn't be left alone with glue and paint. LOL
martinfan5 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) Lovely job on this one Shay Edited February 8, 2015 by martinfan5
afx Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Looks good Shay. Interesting how the engine bay builds up as unit then is installed on the chassis. My guess it made painting a lot easier.
dublin boy Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 I seem to be the only one having problems with the ride height of this kit.
dublin boy Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 I had to send it out to get it lowered. I think the guys got it a bit too low, but it's staying
GeeBee Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) Looking at photographs of the real thing, they do sit a little high on the front end Edited March 10, 2015 by GeeBee
Olskoolrodder Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I'm loving this build! Just getting back into maybe starting to build again after 2-3 years out of the mood, and this is one of the kits that I picked up-can' twait to see more, looking great!
Olskoolrodder Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 You're very welcome A few years ago,my pops had a (US spec, obviously) mid 80's Cabriolet,he traded a '75 Super Beetle for it and didn't like it,but I did,LOL! I thought about buying it,but was into mini-trucks and Mustangs then (had a pair of slammed S-trucks,and a '94 GT ragtop,LOL). Obviously (by my avatar, updated recently) I'm kinda getting back to my roots (that's my '04 New Beetle ragtop turbo I've owned just over a month),LOL!
