Looking good! Great progress and we're all rooting for ya!

BTW, credit for my process goes to Irv Arter, who wrote the article that I followed. Anyone who wants a copy, just PM me your email address and I'll send you the PDF.

This is looking really nice. Detailing is outstanding Been watching this build because I have one on the shelf I need to get too. As an FYI, original Fords (and correctly restored ones) the valance in front should be argent silver.

Thanks guys. Actually, Andy, Argent silver on the valance is only for the pickups. The wagons had it match the body color. At least form the research I did for this one, it's what I found.

But now on to the progress. Plenty of pics from this morning's hours at the bench. First I have the trailer. Added a bit of color and thinking about matching the wood here and there. Still cant decide.

Got some work done on the interior also in between wood panel coats. Needs a little more work, though.

And here, is the wood panel work as well. I do have to say this is the best process I have learned. The panels were flat and this process has given them some depth and a nice wood look. I personally like the way its coming out. Beginner's luck maybe? lol I hope not. Thanks again, Tom. Here is the way it looked after the tan color was added.

...and then color wood....

Some black to finish it off in the next few days. Thanks for following along guys.

That wood grain is looking good. How good is all the fitment of the body to the chassis? I have had some overly thick resin bodies I needed to grind the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH out of.

As for the valance, they were silver, even in the cars. The valance was added after body paint and assembly, and by them all being silver, they did not need to try to match to each car. They were like this from 49 well into the 60's (my friends all original 66 Galaxie has a silver valance/filler panel)

This car is supposed to have its original paint. http://barnfinds.com/original-paint-1953-ford-country-sedan/

A 53 that matched your build, with only 13,000 miles was in the BJ auction and the valance was silver.

1954Ford.com has some really knowledgeable people for this era Ford.

Thanks Carl.

I couldn't wait to get home from work to get to the bench. I wasn't going to, but decided I'm this far in, why not do the rest of the brown around the windows. Although a little more peeling happened with the taping, not too much to disappoint me. I knew it was coming. Cleaned the airbrush and tackled the spot paining as well. Still needs some sanding as you can see some of the spots but a good save in my opinion. Once I sand those spots and clear it all, it should look better. Some touching up is required here and there. then off to foil....ugh ooh boy!

i like the wood grain going front to back rather than up & down. been quite a project to follow but the "stick-to-it-ivness" is definitely paying off.
