JTalmage Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Lots of patina and rust in the first half of the lot. Cool stuff in here. Ferrari's and Delahaye's and all sorts of neat old stuff. http://www.artcurial.com/en/asp/searchresults.asp?pg=1&ps=18&st=D&sale_no=2651
espo Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I had seen something about this collection before. It's a shame that these cars were not better cared for by the owner.
Mike 1017 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 This guy bought all these cars and ran out of money for tarps?. I wish I had the money to restore just one of these cars.
Matt Bacon Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 There's a great article on the collection and the "discovery" in the latest "Octane" magazine. One thing to remember is that when he was buying these cars, there was no "classic car" market. Those were the days when a five year old Ferrari 250TR racecar was pretty much worthless after it had been through a couple of privateers' hands. He bought "old" cars, many of which were in pretty dodgy condition when he bought them. It's only following the establishment of the "investment" classic car market that it's become rational to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a restoration of the basket cases that many of them are... bestest, M.
Roadrunner Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Nothing there interests me, not that I could afford it if it did anyway.
ChrisBcritter Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I found one I liked, the Lorraine-Dietrich B3-6 pickup: Did a little cleanup and photoshop work, et voila: As the French surfers say, "Hang dix!"
Crazy Ed Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I found one I liked, the Lorraine-Dietrich B3-6 pickup: Funny Chris, I liked the same Vehicle out of that list. For me though it'd be fun to drive to the Village to pickup the Mail n go to the Hardware Store - 5 Miles of Dirt Road 'tween here and there.
