Maindrian Pace Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 The spoiler is widened, shaved top and bottom, and fitted. The third brake light and trunk lock recesses are finalized. Body work is pretty well done. -MJS
JTalmage Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 This is turning out awesome. I wish I had as much luck with filler and bodywork on model cars. I'm not doing so well...
mustang1989 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 So far , so good!! Body work is coming out smoothly!
Devilsnake98 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Very nice work on the spoiler, you certainly made it look easy as pie.
Maindrian Pace Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Time to get all my ducks in a row and address the interior insert. I'll use the back of an MPC chassis and rear panels, a good bit of modification will be necessary to make it so the builder can cut off the coupe package shelf and add the hatch cargo area.
mustang1989 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) This is turning into an engineering feat here. Got my eyes glued to this one. Excellent work here Mike!! Edited March 1, 2015 by mustang1989
66belair Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 That is some top notch conversion work. Can't wait to see this one in resin,
Terminator-Fox Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 YES! Looks awesome and will need some of these for sure so I can finally build a model of my 1:1
Maindrian Pace Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 Thanks very much, gentlemen. This is what I have so far: It fits pretty well: The only problem is that it's a total piece of junk. MPC got the shape of the inner panels completely wrong, coming from back in the dark '80s when they had just about given up - and it shows. So it won't be used. The glue is drying on the next update... -MJS
Maindrian Pace Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 Have you looked at the 93 Cobra interior? Sure did! And that's what gave me the idea to look at the model interior. The whole tub fit the the Revell body, but it's obviously too big. The hatch area is cut off and trimmed to fit around the coupe seat. -MJS
Maindrian Pace Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 It's too long, so I shortened it, and also narrowed it a bit. Added a pad to make it sit level on the two package shelf spikes on the chassis. The builder will need to scribe a notch in the middle of the coupe seat back to make it look more like a split fold hatch seat. The hatch seat back is narrower, but changing that would require changing the whole rear seat area; adding expense and probably not worth it for something so hard to see in a built model. -MJS
JTalmage Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Looks great! Only detail missing now is the upper rear set belts, for a 90-up car, and the speaker grilles. Other than that I dig it!
Devilsnake98 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 That interior buck is looking really nice, good work Mike.
jefropas Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH outstanding work! even if I am a notch guy... Jeff
Maindrian Pace Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 I'm calling this one done. It took a back seat to a few other pressing things over the last month, but it's all buttoned up now. Added standoffs to the insert to level it to the chassis. Assemble it to the interior/chassis unit, and it slips into the body easily. Now just have to get it off to the Master Caster. -MJS
