lordairgtar Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Just wondering. I seem to remember a 70s Plymouth Van from when I was still a young kid. Was there such a thing or are the recreational pharmaceuticals I used in the 70s finally catching up to me?
Casey Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 No, no Voyager nor Fargo full-size B-vans, only Dodge Tradesmans/Sportsmans.
disabled modeler Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Nope Casey is right no Plymouth ones....id be happy with the 71-76 Dodge van kits plus it would be easy enough to convert one into a Plymouth.
Tom Geiger Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Looks simple enough to do! Just an exercise in badge engineering... Dodge version Plymouth version. Sand "DODGE" off the hood, add "PLYMOUTH" in the middle of the grille. Note the "Voyager" script on the door, same position as the Dodge script would be. Same on the back.. note that this one has the single door. Not sure if all Plymouth vans had this or if it was an option as on the Dodge. My Dodge Sportsman 300 had this.
disabled modeler Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 It was an option Tom....I once owned a 78 Plymouth van it had 2 cargo doors on the rear and 2 on the pass side. Id love to find some of the 71-76 Dodge van kits...then I could build a few we have owned.
lordairgtar Posted January 21, 2015 Author Posted January 21, 2015 Thanks everyone. I thought somewhere I saw a kit of it or had it. The brain gets fuzzy in my old age.
1972coronet Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Plymouth-badged trucks also included the D / W pickups and the Ramcharger (whose Plymouth-specific name escapes me) .
unclescott58 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Was it a Trailduster=Ramcharger? greg Yes. Scott
Tom Geiger Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Plymouth-badged trucks also included the D / W pickups and the Ramcharger (whose Plymouth-specific name escapes me) . and the very rare version of the Dodge Omni based Rampage... the Plymouth Scamp. I only saw one once!
unclescott58 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 and the very rare version of the Dodge Omni based Rampage... the Plymouth Scamp. I only saw one once! Have a buddy who owned a Scamp pickup back in the early 90's. Great vehicle. It was comfortable, and got great gas mileage. We took it to several car shows/swap meets around the country. Not to show. But, to carry things like swap meet treasures and other car parts. It had a topper to keep the cargo safe and clean. A perfect little truck for what we used it for. Scott
hjracing Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I don't know why, but I ever love the Plymout version over the DODGE ones. I remember the Plymouth vans and also the Trail Duster...
1972coronet Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 and the very rare version of the Dodge Omni based Rampage... the Plymouth Scamp. I only saw one once! I remember seeing those when they were new , on the lot at O'Leary Chrysler-Plymouth-Imperial in Whittier ( Ca. ) . The identifying decal was exactly the same as the 1971-1972 A-body decal ! I always liked the Rampage / Scamp . They looked so neat ! There were a couple of Direct Connection "enhanced" versions around town .
disabled modeler Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 My brother owns a 83? Dodge Rampage....he got it from his father in law he bought it new....nice little truck.

I'm with you on this. Even though the Plymouth and Dodge models could be exactly the same, I perfered the Plymouths over the Dodges too. It makes no sense what so ever. Give me a Voyager over a Sportsman. A Tailduster over a Ramcharger. And a Scamp over a Rampage. I'm just goofy that way. Scott
