cobraman Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) Started working on this one while I was at a stand still waiting for the paint job (enamel ) to dry on the other Studebaker I am working on. This one will be done salt like style also as I am on a salt style kick. Chassis is just about done as is engine. I filled the head lights and molded in the entire front end. I am thinking white or silver for this one. Interior will be red. Edited January 30, 2015 by cobraman
MeatMan Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Nice concept. Can't wait to see the final product.
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Cool project. Don't see many Avantis done as salt flat cars. Keep up the good work.
slusher Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Great way to keep builds going Ray, great start.
wayne swayze Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 You're on a great roll Ray! 2 Studebakers built for the salt is terrific! I'm looking at my '53 on the bench, but can't decide what direction to build it. Got a nice Pro-Mod slot car which is also a chopped '53 Stude, and IRL I once owned a lovely 1:1 '61 Hawk Limited production, so I really like the Studebakers. Keep at it....I'll be following.
cobraman Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Rolling right along on this one. Decided on silver over the white I was thinking about. Just a mock up, still plenty to do.
cobraman Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Thanks guys ! Can you believe the paint on that yellow Studebaker salt car is still soft ?
Danno Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Good start, Ray. Interesting body jack (in the 2nd pic).
slusher Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Thanks guys ! Can you believe the paint on that yellow Studebaker salt car is still soft ? Ray, I don't know what you used but to me testors have changed their paint from what my older cans are. I tossed out a can that I had picked up for a project for not covering. I test everything now on scrap parts and hoods... Great silver finish Ray. Your build is really looking fantastic..
cobraman Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Thanks men. This kit has been going together very good..................... so far. I know there is a surprise waiting for me, probably with the opening doors.
johnbuzzed Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Yep, that is indeed looking nice. The silver looks good; the overall effect looks kinda like a luxo-racer. I'll keep watching this one.
cobraman Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Thanks guys. This one is just about finished. Hope to put the last few pieces on later today.
B-Ram Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Great looking work. I wish I could work as fast as you. It takes me four hours to just think about doing something. Bill
cobraman Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 : ) This one is finished. Photos in "Under Glass" section soon if interested.
