chunkypeanutbutter Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 (edited) Let's see your Tamiya Minis. I'm looking for ideas with mine. Edited January 31, 2015 by chunkypeanutbutter
GeeBee Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 (edited) Here's a few of mine, all built factory stock using genuine BMC colours These two were built back in the mid 90's Edited January 30, 2015 by GeeBee
chunkypeanutbutter Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 I have one with the roof that got caved in. It's going to be a dragster.
tmathew1us Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Beautiful job, but I don't recognize this car or this kit. Was this a kitbash?
southpier Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 anyone have information regarding a wicker (or cane) bodied Mini? my Tamiya mini - rally version about 14$ from hobbylinc! - came yesterday and my best guess is carbon fiber scale motorsport decals for the panels (yellow over black paint) but i know someone has a better way.
lysleder Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 jb To me, this looks like an aftermarket resin body transkit built with parts from the rally kit. The body depicts a Broadspeed GT conversion that was made primarily for racing back in the day. The roof and back end were made out of glassfiber, and provided less frontal area and supposedly more high-speed stability.
Tom Geiger Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 I believe that body came from a company called Scale Kraft in South Africa. I have his Mini Traveler.
Tom Geiger Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Not Tamiya, but here's my Mini. It's diecast, made by Polystil of Italy back in the early 1970s. They came two ways in Europe, as a finished model under a clear plastic cover, or as a prepainted kit. This one was the kit and I did a lot of detail painting, and added orange felt carpet. This was back when I was 12, and it's survived all these years.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted January 31, 2015 Author Posted January 31, 2015 anyone have information regarding a wicker (or cane) bodied Mini? Hooper Motor Services made one for Peter Sellers. It had some doodads and extra whatnots installed inside, I think a heater and some other stuff. When the Pink Panther came along, he commissioned another, this time a LHD one. After the movie was done he gave it to the director.
PatW Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Two above recently finished. I'm presently doing a 'New' Mini build with a top chop.
southpier Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Hooper Motor Services made one for Peter Sellers..... interesting bit of information
