RAIDER VETTE! Custom 24th Scale Space Ship is Finished!

Blackout!

I decided to add some Metal Mesh to the front & Rear Vents. I started by Flattening the Detail in the Front Vents with a Dremel Tool. I wish I had done this before I painted the Body, because the Dremel Bit snagged and started to move towards the outside of the Body. Fortunately I stopped it before it caused any serious damage, just scratched the paint a little and knocked one Engine out. I'll glue the Engine back in & touch it up the scratches later. Notice I glued the Cylon Raider Grill in the Corvette Grill Opening.

Brass Mesh!

I found this Metal Mesh in an Art Supply Store. I think it will go well with the Purplelisious Paint.

First I cut off some Brass Mesh so it will be easier to work with. Then I started to make File Card Templates to fit in the Vents.

Next I held the Templates on to the Mesh and cut them to size.

Gold Lines!

I added several Gold Lines to the Engines. All of these Lines come with the Kit.

Since I only detailed the back of the Engines I had extra Lines to Detail the Rear with...

More Gold Lines!

I had some extra Lines left over from the Pod Racer Engines, so I added them to the Third Engine.

Next I added a little Black Wash to bring out the details in the Gold Areas and make the Gold Lines look Brighter.

Stretching the Mesh!

I started by cutting 2 lines that connected the 2 grooves, so now I have a Triangular Opening, sort of.

Next I cut a small piece of Brass Mesh an Pushed & Shaped it through the Opening until I got this Real Nice Shape.

Then I glued it in place with Zap-A-Gap, Green Label & Hot Glue.

Wires, Clips & Lights!

I drilled 2 Holes for the Spotlights. Then I cut 2 lengths of Aluminum Tubing to fit in the Holes.

I am bending Paper Clips to hold the Color Changing LED's below the Mesh.

Base Lights On!

I added a piece of Diffusion Film between the Mesh & the Color Changing Lights. This spreads out the Light and makes it look Real Nice!
