worldgpfan Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) Here is some work in progress pictures. I decided to go with a blown supercharged engine. Don't believe it's as accurate as it could be, but i like it. Still need to work the exhaust through the front fenders. Edited March 27, 2015 by worldgpfan
665@213 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 That looks right good, Anthony! Reminds me of Dwayne Wolfe's Pro Mod Firebird.
worldgpfan Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 Here are the first pictures of the paint which was started yesterday. I went with a light gun metal front end, the rear will be metallic blue. You can also see the exhaust peeking out from the bottom of the fenders. Sorry the pictures are not the best.
Ghost_33 Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Real nice work. Am building a firebird aswell A Doorslammer one and it's soon finished
worldgpfan Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 Well the blue paint has been applied. I will start to add some graphic decals while I wait for the sponser set to arrive.
Mister Twister Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Nice work so far and I like the paint colors....Keep at it!
GoatGuy Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Looks really good. Not sure what you did to the tires, but they look like real rubber. Did you lightly sand them or spray on a Dullcote?
worldgpfan Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 Yes, first I do a light sand, apply a gloss cote, the tire decals then a black wash to the letters (to look a little worn) and then finally a dull cote. It does create a good effect.
worldgpfan Posted March 6, 2015 Author Posted March 6, 2015 It's the Revell firebird match racer kit.
cody.steinbach Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 and i ordered one thanks really great looks amazing man.
worldgpfan Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 Latest picture, adding the decals slowly on this one. I'm still waiting for some to arrive in the mail. Anyway here is the first look. It's not exactly the look I was going for, some of the original decals broke apart, so I improvised with what extra decals I had.
am73grand Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Looks good to me! Love the white stripe separating the blue and silver!
W117monte Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 This thing looks great! Have you ever posted pics of the 55 in the background?
worldgpfan Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 Yea, it's posted under 1955 Chevy Top Sportsman http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=95374&p=1297036
worldgpfan Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 Well thanks for all the good comments. Unfortunately I was not very happy with the way the decals turned out, so I changed them. I feel better about the way it turned out this time. The next thing is to do the interior and the final touches to the exterior.
