Sixx Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Just wondering...I bought a Grand Prix...southern stocker...as a basis to build it stock, what would be a good choice for a chassis & interior????? I know I'm gonna have to do some scratch-building, I just need a push in the right direction
drball Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Monograms mid eighties Monte Carlo. It is 1/24.
Mark Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 You've got your work cut out for you...all of the Southern Stocker kits used a Buick Regal body, with different hoods and nose sections for the Grand Prix and Monte Carlo.
Guest Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) Couldn't the Monogram Buick GN be converted to a Regal with a little work? I'm thinking there's already a body in resin. Edited February 14, 2015 by plowboy
Sixx Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 So I could get somewhat of a decent start with the Buick GN kit????
Guest Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Disregard my earlier post Derrick. For whatever reason, I was thinking Regal instead of Grand Prix. The GN is also 1/24 scale. I'll never understand why MPC only did the El Camino and none of the other popular G bodies. Would've thought they would have at least made a promo of them.
Can-Con Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 The MPC '80 Monte Carlo will get you a correct chassis, not very detailed but correct. The interior would also give you a start on a stock one but still quite a bit of work to change it from Chevy to Pontiac. The small block Chevy engine would be correct for a V8 GP of that vintage and is very nice.
Bob Ellis Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I suggest the MPC Rusty Wallace Alugard Grand Prix for the front and rear bumpers. The basic body can use the MPC 1979-1980 Monte Carlo (the 1980 was recently reissued by Round2). You will need to fabricate a lot even the GP tail lights. Search 1984 Grand Prix in this forum for what I did.
Casey Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Wait for the Revell '84 Olds Cutlass to be announced in a few months.
