Porscheman Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 A little something different for me, but one of my favorite cars. Back in the 70's my best friend had a convertible and the guy across the street, bought a brand new bright orange coupe. Great poor man's sport car, he called it. I painted this one Tamiya's gloss black and the interior was done in 2 tone Tamiya's greys. This is an excellent kit and highly recommended. Thanks for looking Al
taaron76 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Nice build, Al. Question for you though... What year is that and where did you get it? My friend has a nicely restored one and I want to build one for him, but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks! Tim
vintagercr Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Al, nice build. How long to build this one?
gtx6970 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Looks pretty good. Is this kit even still avail ? I built one for my sister in law years ago ( like maybe 20 ? ) And yes it was a very nice kit
Porscheman Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) Nice build, Al. Question for you though... What year is that and where did you get it? My friend has a nicely restored one and I want to build one for him, but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks! Tim Thank you everyone for the nice comments. The model is a 1966. I bought this one off ebay about a month ago. I don't think it's available at this time, but I'm not totally positive. There is a Karmann Ghia 1:24 on ebay now, but I don't know anything about the manufacturer Mr Hobby. Below is the link. Hope this helps Al http://www.ebay.com/itm/GSI-Creos-Mr-Hobby-G188-Volkswagen-Karmann-Ghia-1-24-Scale-Plastic-Kit-/391055404964?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5b0cb7efa4 I just located one on Amazon!!! http://www.amazon.com/89652-Volkswagen-Karmann-Ghia-Coupe-Limited/dp/B004V1TD84 Edited February 17, 2015 by Porscheman

Porscheman Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 Thanks Peter, Rich and Carl. This is such a great kit, I wish Tamiya would bring it back. Al
jbwelda Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I think the Mr Hobby one would be a Gunze Sangyo kit of a slightly earlier car. excellent job there, did you do the engine? really is a great kit, if you want one PM me and maybe we can work out a trade, I think I have at least one I might part with. jb
