Johnny Mac
Hi everyone, my first post, hope you like it. The now hard to find Esci Mercedes 190e, a challenging kit to say the least. I wanted to depict the 1989-92 version with 8 hole alloys & "Sacco" panelling. This required the purchase of a Tamiya S500, which, as I was revealing the engine bay, yielded a slam panel & detailed engine bay items, along with the wheels & correct mirrors. The difficulty was the kit had been sat on or had been subjected to heat, the body was badly warped. It became a labour of love, spending far too many hours as you all will have experienced. Anyhow, here she is, also pictured with a Revell A Class, I made in 1999. Thanks for looking. Edited February 23, 2015 by Johnny Mac
wayne swayze
Looks like you did a great job on this! Nice engine bay, panel lines and paint. Well done!
Johnny Mac
Thanks Wayne, Esci panel lines are way too heavy compared to Fujimi or Hasegawa, but there is not a lot of options there. In fairness it's a 30 year old mould, on some levels the kit is really poor (no plated parts whatsoever) yet has odd lovely separately moulded handles. I've seen hardly any completed 190 kits. Possibly for the above reasons.

Young iron
What a great build !!! The Phase 2 W201 is WAY nicer than the Phase 1. I enjoy the Rauchsilber metallic paint, as well as the red leather. And your M-102 and engine bay look sooooo good. Last detail : turn signal repetitors on the front fenders to match the italian licence plates. Sharp ! Where is the 190E badge ?

Johnny Mac
Thanks so much for the kind words, it is a rare kit & I have taken the liberty of adding two more pics in slightly higher res. The latter pic shows what a challenge this kit is, however with a little effort it can be made into a faithful reproduction. I am fortunate enough to own the real thing so research was not a big issue, as the kit is LHD I opted for Italian plates. The 190 badge is a decal in the kit, the star moulded into the boot. I used the donor foil transfers from the Tamiya S500 kit, it included the lovely star on the boot, it looks better & I have seen 190's with just 2.0 on the boot (mines a 2.6 anyway) so I used a bit of licence there. Here she is with my German scoot.
