Shelby 427 1965 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I had to stall the 206 build due to lack of reference pictures. When I eventually get the ones I need, I'll continue on with it. Till then, there's been a bit of an elephant in the collection, and it's been a pile of 3 '66 Mustangs that are all muddled up. I've been deliberately avoiding them, but I'm in the mood to build something American and these are fitting the bill nicely for something cool. I hope to get two good Mustangs out of this pile of muddled parts. First, I need to see exactly what I have, and hopefully that'll be doable.. Wish me luck... ...gulp.
DumpyDan Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Looks like an ambitious project, but your a model builder. So build them Stangs
ssroczyn Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Good Luck with this, I'm working on a triple build myself, 3 Revell 56 Ford Pickups! I'll be following this!
LokisTyro Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Very ambitious! If you don't mind, and if they were included, how well cast are the steel style wheels for the 2+2 ?
Brizio Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I feel the pain, I'm building three Daytona Cobra...
Shelby 427 1965 Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 Hahah thanks everyone! Well, I think, THINK I have enough here to get two mustangs out of it. Some notation to make sure I remember... My plan is to build a GT350H standard, and then a Mustang done to how I would have one. Well, one that isn't a Shelby anyway, hahah. So already I've got started on making the bumpers nice and joined... One irk I do have is with the fastback panels. There seems to be terrible fitment. Any advice on this??? Cheers everyone!
Shelby 427 1965 Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 @Andrew: These are the wheels I have in the bundle of parts, are they what you're after...? All of the wheels seem to be very crisply molded.
tbill Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 cool project, will be following along, multiples at once are getting popular
LokisTyro Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 The styled steelies look pretty good. Thanks a bunch for taking and posting pictures. Good work so far. I'll be checking in again on this one.
BirdWatcher Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I have unopened fastback on the shelf, Is that what i have to look forward to with the front fascia? Pretty ambitious. Can't wait to see more.
horsepower Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 The front panels are different between the Shelby Mustangs and the standard 2+2, the front panels on the Shelby's are in real life a fibreglass piece, and never fit exceptionally well in full size.
Shelby 427 1965 Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 Okay, so I got some work done on these two. They're now two rolling chassis'. Only part missing from the pile was the shocks or whatever ya call 'em that connect to the rear leaf springs, so I'm happy enough with that! This is them on the body... I'm tempted to modify the custom one to fit these Ford GT40 wheels, what do you guys think? I think it looks kinda cool. They're just sitting underneath the body at the minute. The other will be a standard GT350-H. Thanks for lookin', all comments appreciated!
vintagercr Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Looks like an ambitious project, but your a model builder. So build them Stangs What he said.
Gothicz House Of Kustomz Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 LMBO, I was just warned about doing this, have 4 going all at once, seems yer allot farther then I am, I'm doing the 4 horsemen, Bellum, fames, already lost parts, and broke another, lol, good work man
Shelby 427 1965 Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 Finally got some bench time tonight, so I got to work on the GT350H interior.
freakshow12 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 The front panels are different between the Shelby Mustangs and the standard 2+2, the front panels on the Shelby's are in real life a fibreglass piece, and never fit exceptionally well in full size. Not entirely true. The standard gt350 shared the front valence with the regular mustang. The 65 gt350R front valence was unique and what is in these pictures. It's not correct for a regular gt350. There were also 2 versions of the R model valence. One with round duct holes and one with oval holes.
blackandwhite Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 i vote for stuffing the gt40 wheels and tires underneath that thing
Shelby 427 1965 Posted March 17, 2015 Author Posted March 17, 2015 So, after finally getting some bench time, and cranking on the tunes.. I managed to squeeze those GT40 wheels under the non GT350H, after some modifications.. And having to change the front tyres to some from a Mk3 Golf, and then putting the GT40 front tyres onto the back. But I think it looks cool and was worth the work!
Shelby 427 1965 Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) Had a go at making a splitter... needs some fine tuning but it'll look cool. I'll get some work done on the GT350H soon, I promise.. This one is just fun because I can have some creativity with it. They're gonna be very cool together...
