zaina Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) Got this kit on trade...thanks MrMopar. So far I'm having fun with the assembly. I probably have ten hours in it so far and not even half done cleaning things up and gluing sub assemblies. There must be about 400 pieces in the kit. I plan to do a box stock build that is heavily weathered. Edited October 15, 2015 by zaina
1930fordpickup Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Wethered is the only way these look right. They are only shiney when they first come out of the factory.
Superpeterbilt Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Looking good so far. Ill be watching this one. Are you going to put a roof on it?
Jim B Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I've considered picking this kit up (more than once). I'll be watching, too.
Petetrucker07 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Nice work so far. I'll be following this. I have 2 glue bombs that need attetion.
dptydawg Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Its really a very versatile kit that has lots of build possibilities. You are off to a good start. carl
gatorincebu Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Lots of possibilities here. And yes heavily weathered is the way to go. In 30 years of running equipment. I only got to run two new dozers, one new wheel trenher, a number of excavators and loaaders all new and or used and abused. So I will be watching this build with a good deal of interest. As I have several junkers and a couple fresh dozer kits in the stash. be Well Gator
zaina Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) Got some things painted. And a mockup of one of the tracks. Edited March 13, 2015 by zaina
Mr mopar Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Glad to see your building it Andy .............. So far so good!
gatorincebu Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Looking good thus far! I like the shop made roof!C lol Be Well Gator
zaina Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 I didn't like where the rear roof pillar was so I moved it back. I also thought it need something more so I enclosed the window area with screen. I also got a little something to go along with the dozer.
Petetrucker07 Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Nice work so far. The trailer builds up nicely. What truck are you gonna put under it?
Petetrucker07 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 That'll look really cool. I have something similar goin. A Ca Hauler, AMT lowboy and CAT excavator. Lookin forward to your next update. Keep up the great work.
72 Charger Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I like what you have so far . I do have to say though that the low boy trailer would not be able to carry the CAT bulldozer ...! Its been said before that its just to heavy for it (Still looks cool though)
zaina Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 A little update. The trailer is almost done. Just need to finish the landing gear and add airlines. The dozer just got some paint A little update. The trailer is almost done. Just need to finish the landing gear and add airlines. The dozer just got some paint
Petetrucker07 Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Looks great man. Nice addition of the landing gear. Lookin forward to seeing more.
Superpeterbilt Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 The trailer looks great. Nice work on the landing gear. Just to give a little tip, since you have landing gear, you don't need that cable loop on the very front of the trailer. This is to pull the trailer onto the truck with a winch. Great job on the dozer cab also. The screen is a nice touch.
AzTom Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I built this several years ago and never did get it weathered. Looking forward to seeing this one done. I really like the shop made cab. I'm not sure if you are being period correct but the color you have looks like the newer cat paint, after 1979. The D8H ended around 1974.
