slusher Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Its nice to have some of those kits we had as kids but i would have to settle for a repop. I was not born when it cam out. Great looking builds guys you have shared with the topic...
ZTony8 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I had that kit and it's sedan companion more than once each.I still have most of the decal sheet from the kit, too.
Stray Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 Yeah thanks for the pics guys. Glad to see some of you remember it and also have built some sweet versions.
tim boyd Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Interesting thread here... Some really sharp builds, too. Just a quick note that the '40 Ford "Early Modified" box art on page one is an entirely different kit series...it's the AMT Early Modified kit tool from the mid 1970's, and the tool also includes a Plymouth and Chevy (and probably others that I can't recall at the moment) bodies in the tooling. It's an interesting kit, reasonably well detailed, but suffering from the fit issues of many AMT kits developed in the mid 1970's era. TIM
oldcars Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 All of those rereleases and not one of them had " the first kit " fenderskirts in them as far as I know. Bummer! Richard
horsepower Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Well... I'm THAT old and I sure do remember. The "Forty Ford" was my second model kit purchase back in 1959. It cost a grand total of $1.49! If I had only known they'd be worth $150.00 in 2015! I found one of those boxes in a friend's garage and he let me have it, after blowing the dust off it looked like the day it was sold. I let it go for$8.00 at NNL West about fifteen years ago.
Bob Ellis Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 That kit can be had for less than $150. It's been re-issued like a Elizabeth Taylor marriage license. Depends on which box you have to have.
mredjr Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I am that old and remember getting that kit from Belk-Tyler store in Rocky Mount, N.C. my home town. Elvin
