1/25 Deep-dish steel wheel

28 February 2015 - 06:37 PM

I am looking to trade for just (1) of the 1/25 deep-dish, late-1960's era racing wheels as shown in the photos below.  I believe that this particular wheel can be found inside the 1/25 Johan 1972 Ford Torino Nascar stock car kit or inside several different 1970's-era MPC Chevrolet Camaro kits.  Frequently, these wheels have inconsistent chrome-plating on their backsides, as shown in my photos below.

I'm just looking to trade for one of these wheels, hopefully with the chrome-plating in good condition.  Thanks!

Removing Sharpie marker from kit plastic

28 January 2015 - 06:01 PM

Today I received a built-up Mustang kit that I won on an auction site, and was thinking that the model's body had been painted in Flat Black spray paint.  Once the built-up reached my mailbox, I discovered that it was not painted with paint, but the body had been "painted" with a Black, Sharpie Permanent marker, (the thick, greasy, permanent Black ink that goes on in streaks).

Has anyone ever encountered this situation before?  If so, were you able to remove the Sharpie "marker-paint" job?  I'm looking for any suggestions for removing this Sharpie marker from the kit's body; different solutions to soak it in, etc.  Thanks.

1/25 Late-1960's MGB; has a kit ever been produced?

17 January 2015 - 12:17 PM

I've been recently intrigued by late-1960's sports car racers, and am wondering if any kit manufacturers have ever made a 1/25 scale, late-1960's, (1967-69, specifically), MGB sports car in either factory-stock or race car form?

I believe there might have been one in 1/24 scale from Gunze Sanyo or another foreign kit manufacturer, but any from an American kit manufacturer?  And if so, if the kit had decent detail and build-ability.

I'd appreciate any input from the kit historians out there.

Reissue of Warren Tope's '73 Trans-Am Mustang

27 December 2014 - 05:22 PM

I've seen in descriptions of this soon-to-be-reissued kit, that it'll have pad-printed Firestone tires inside of it.  (I believe the original issue of this kit came with Goodyears).

My question is this: has anyone seen 1/25 pad-printed Firestones on the market recently that may very well be the same tires, (Trans-Am, racing-style), that will be inside of this kit?  Or, do you think that it's possible that these will be new Firestone racing tires that we haven't seen before?

Reissued 1/25 '53 Studebaker Starliner 3N1 kit questions

20 September 2014 - 05:25 AM

Glad to see this 1/25 '53 Studebaker Starliner, "Mr. Speed" kit return with all of its original parts.  Can anyone post some pics of this reissued kit's parts trees?  Wondering if they have a lot of flash and the general condition of this reissue.

Also wondering; does the body have cutting-guidelines inside it for removing the roof to add the kit's chopped top piece?

I like the chopped top, but would rather build this kit as a "custom" with a much-less-severe chopped top; I'm wondering if a portion of the stock top and the chopped top piece could be combined to build a custom Stude with only a 2"-3" chop instead of the much larger chop provided in the kit.
