Chicago hobby stores

21 November 2014 - 04:47 AM

The D.A.A.M. club will be coming to Chicago(Rosemont) for the muscle car show this weekend and we may do some hobby store exploring.Any good stores we should try to hit?

Wynnscharger kit frame

06 October 2014 - 06:11 AM

If anyone is contemplating the purchase of the Wynnscharger kit re-release,here's a word of warning.Check the kit before you leave the store.I bought one, took it home, and discovered that the frame had more curves in it than the Tail of the Dragon road.I took the kit back to the store and we looked at the rest of the stock. All those frames were warped too.I ended up taking the frame from a Young American kit that he had in the store. It's not great but it's better than any of the Wynnscharger kits.

Garlits Wynnscharger

15 July 2014 - 11:56 AM

In perusing the Round 2 site I noticed that the Wynnscharger dragster is scheduled for release this coming autumn. This is cool if it's really the Garlits car and not the Young American in a different box(the front of the frame, front wheels, and axle are slightly different).First time back since the 70s I believe.

Thumbs up for Testor fine grain lacquer primer

10 January 2014 - 04:47 AM

I've recently had a chance to use the Testor fine grain lacquer primer and I strongly recommend it to all modelers. It sprays out nicely once the can is warmed, covers very well and dries very smooth.I find it as nice to use as the Tamiya fine grain lacquer primer and it's generally more available than the Tamiya product. It's available in both gray and white. P.S.-I don't have any affiliation with Testor.
