So everything new is mo better, huh?

I have a friend who worked at Boeing. He said ever since Lockheed Martin was part of Boeing things went down hill. Boeing had three inspections per assembly, then it went down to 2. Then one. That’s when he quit. I’ll never forget his quote ( it will be amazing if the doors do not blow off this thing) that was awhile ago and here it happened. Bean counters are not always a good thing. -

The old guys that gave a sh.t made things to last because their name was on it. Now it’s just greed. I’m trying to teach this guy about (your name is on the repair) but some people do not care. I’m disgusted with the current situation. -

What is your favorite sports car?
Brudda replied to WillyBilly's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ferrari P3 -4. Only one converted for the street. Dean Martins son Dino Martin had a p-3 made into a street car. Production car would be a corvette. Here is my 1:1. Have these also. Like them a lot. Heck I don’t know. -
Now this. Ready for the paint shop. I am using other parts I have straightened. Two fenders at $7000 each and a hood at $12,000. Not cheap by any means. Put a new 1/4 panel on at &15,000 and a new left door at $10,000. Repaired the rear upper new panel. ( new parts always come in damaged) I’ll have pics after paint.

Progress or stupidity? You decide...

I just repaired an electric car yesterday and I will not say the brand but the taillamp assembly was just under $4000 . Gotta love new cars. And you wonder why your insurance premium is so high. -

Ok I’ll elaborate just a little. When I see $2800 to $3500 for one headlamp I get pretty upset. $1500 is a bargain in today’s cars. Now guys I still work and see it all the time in the auto body industry. I refer the new cars as LEGO bricks and Tupperware. Mostly plastic and garbage. I WILL NOT buy a new car. I see these people buy these things and cannot believe the monthly payments , and the lack of new parts. I see cars and trucks down for up to 6 months waiting for a very expensive part to come in. Progress? I believe it’s more greed than progress -

Jonny , thank you for the heads up on that rear bumper. Mine has it also. I will strip it, fill it and prime and use revell spray chrome. WOW it’s a very big wave in the bumper. Mine has a small wave in the center as well. Thanks again.

Hello Carl. Thank you . I’m thinking of a burgundy , brandy wine color. I love maroon on a GTO. But a burgundy will make it more exciting. I forgot to mention, Jays wheels and tires

Thank you and for the advice. I’ll keep a heads up on that

A 1/24 monogram GTO. 1985 kit. Modified the suspension for the tires and wheels. Prepped the body and primed it. It’s an old kit but overall it’s not bad. Using some parts from the foose impala kit. Door handles and windshield wipers so far. I have a model car garage photo etch set I’m going to use. Also going to use revell chrome paint for the bumpers. It’s an old kit but seems to cleanup nice . There are things that are old like the exhaust is molded in the rearend. The door panels are not separate, stuff like that. Well here goes. This is going to be a slow , fun build.
