Yo Jutt
Hi guys!! This will be my first build as a member. Thanks again for the welcomes guys! I just got this kit a couple days ago started sanding the body and removing some lines here and there. Then before I knew it I was painting the engine. I have decided I want this model a little lower than stock and since I have never done it before I'm open to all suggestions. What to do how to do it and what to look out for. I was googling around and managed to get the front end where I like it. I just cut the spindles that hold the wheel on and just like that raised them up. Now the rear end with leaf springs is where I'm kinda scratching my head!!
YoungLuis
Awesome! I want to try this too! I'll be learning as well.
Yo Jutt
Hey there Luis this is what I found on the front end. Hope it helps. modeltech.tripod.com/lower1.htm
W-409
This is a good looking project even if lowering is not quite my style. Looks like you're doing a good work with the engine and that roll bar looks really good too. I haven't lowered many leaf spring cars, as I said above, I'm quite rarely lowering these things. Anyway one trick that is easy to do is adding little styrene blocks between the leaf springs and the rear axle. Some other ways, like finding different leaf springs or bending the ones that you have are much harder to get right. This is how the lowering block looks: I hope this helps. THarrison351
Wow, I don't know where you found that picture, but that looks scary unsafe.

Yo Jutt
Thanks for all the help guys! This is what I've tried out before I've traveled for work. I grabbed my files and filed down where the leaf spring mounts on the frame. I'll mock it up and see how it looks. If I need more then lol this car will also be scary and unsafe!!! TFchronos
Great start, I did the same thing to my Dart to lower the back a little.

Yo Jutt
Lol thanks for lookin guys!! I'll see how the stance looks when I get back from work. Hopefully what I have done will work out and give me what I'm looking for. Never done this with a build before so I'm anxious to get building again. Looking at some great models on here and have a few ideas of things I'd like to try. Like carb detailing and fuel lines all the little stuff that makes a difference. I'm a carpenter not a wrench guy. So I have no idea where to start. Any input on "how to" is more than welcome. And again thanks for taking an interest and lookin!!
1 bad55 stan
The lowering blocks are the easy way to do it, cut some styrene to length, drill a hole through the middle and add a locating pin to line every thing up.

Yo Jutt
Thanks guys!! Can't wait to get home and start working on this project again!! Does anyone have good tips on carb detailing? I like how some of you get them so you can see down in carb. And where do I start as far as throttle linkage and fuel lines? Thanks for lookin guys and thank you again for the pics!! Much appreciated!!
Yo Jutt
Hey there. Finally made it home to get some work done. I got a very little done on the motor as I was waiting for paint to dry on other parts. But my order from hobby clinic came in. Can't decide which wheels to use... Thanks for lookin!!! More to come. microwheel
I like the wheels on the right of the engine, but if your planning to do a nice custom, then maybe the the ones on the left. I'm sure whatever your choose, though, it will look good when you get it together.
slusher
Wheels on the right look the best...
Modlbldr
Neither. One on the left says "80's Camaro" One on the right says "Dukes of Hazzard". No offense, but I say keep looking. Later-
Yo Jutt
Hey there guys got a little more done tonight.. Attached the carbs and air filters to the the engine. Need to hit them with a little black wash.. Started to work on the interior. Got it all painted semi gloss black. And tried racing harnesses for the first time, lol they will work for this time I guess. Also got lookin through the parts box and found these wheels and tires from the 2 in 1 32 window coupe. They will work nicely. Better than the other 2 options I think. Thanks for lookin.
Yo Jutt
Lol guess I better post a pic of what I've got so far! (Whoops)
W-409
Yep, those wheels are definitely the best looking from those three options, great pick! I hope you decide to paint the spokes like they are on real wheels when they're not polished. I think they look the best that way, with polished spokes I think they look more modern (And I don't like that ). Of course I'm not saying you should do this, but it's another option. The Dart looks really good so far. Nice and clean work with the engine and interior. Those seat belts are a nice addition.
Yo Jutt
Thanks for the pic!! I use testers paints what color best matches that spoke color?? Thanks for lookin!!
Yo Jutt
Well got a little bit more done tonight.. Love tinkering through the evening and early morning!! I got a lot of engine detail done before the pulleys and fan belt go on. This way I had lots of room to get in with my needle nose pliers and cut the wires. So I ran fuel lines and sorta made throttle linkage (yes I still have to hook up a throttle cable, waiting to do this when motor is in place). I made a distributer out of a small straw ran my wires through it and painted it gold. First time doing the carb details so please let me know what your thoughts are!! Also here is my reference pic. Thanks for lookin and hope you all have a very merry Christmas!!
W-409
Thanks for the pic!! I use testers paints what color best matches that spoke color?? Thanks for lookin!! I'm glad to help. I don't know the Testors paint colors, though, as those paints are hard to find here in Finland. All I know is that Humbrol's #53 works well on those spokes. Good work on the engine. Nice details! Yo Jutt
Haha thanks anyway. I might just leave them chrome with a black wash or black as I plan on painting the car gun metal
