MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. As much as I loved the freight oriented tractors 4070, White Freightliner, Titan/Astro. Mack, Ford W series, anything White Motors etc back as a kid in the mid 1970’s. The W Series from KW also was a favorite. KW’s, Pete’s were nice but seemed to be West of the Hudson River as far as I thought. However when you saw them on the NYS Thruway or on the pages of Owner Operator Magazine your heart skipped a beat. Want to see more of this model. Well done.
  2. Wow that's a great job. I really like it a lot. Well done.
  3. I purchased an brand new AMT Chevrolet Titan 90 kit from eBay back in 2011. I started the kit then abruptly stopped (a familiar MO of mine). Over the years I lost some parts. However a few years ago I started to reaccumulate the missing parts (including the cab). I then decided to try and build her up. Project T-90 is now on the bench. My thought process is to make her a slightly dolled up O/O unit that was purchased from a used truck dealer (similar story to a certain Carroll Jo Hummer we all know and appreciate). I even have dirtied up the powerplant. Remember the only time you shouldn't see any build up is when she's on the showroom floor.
  4. Gary based on my track record of many good ideas from others, and self created ones the finished product has to be finished. Revell snap Peterbilt 359's, and KW W900's are one thing. Actually completing AMT non snap kits are a different story. I change my mind more than a 17 year old Girl picking out a prom dress. What I will learn from this project directly affects my Rat Fink 4070A that's still in its wrapping in my closet.
  5. A person I know has suggested Red or light Blue. He also said that semi gloss Black is so "standard". The Red I might go with is Rustoleum Gloss Apple Red (pictured). I might do the fuel tanks in frame color with Aluminum straps, or Aluminum and frame colored straps. So many decisions.
  6. That's true. Weather needs to get situated properly before I get to the decision.
  7. Brian thank you. My question is did International offer a light Blue chassis color option in the years 1968 to 1973?
  8. Not quite sure. Perhaps May be bit too light. Will do some more research. Thank you for your suggestion.
  9. Jurgen thank you. It's Testors One Coat Lacquer De Ja Blue.
  10. My newest project is underway. The AMT Retooled IH CO4070A that I started last year. I used Testors One Coat Lacquer De Ja Blue. Added the White kit stripes (box art ones). Unsure if I am painting the frame Semi Gloss Black or perhaps a contrasting Blue (suggestions however will be welcomed). I am going to be clear coating the cab prior to adding the livery decals which have not been determined yet. More pictures to come as I progress through the build.
  11. Bob, Good morning and thank you for the tip. What grit would I use to scuff it up?
  12. What if want to repaint her with an enamel, can I I lay down the Tamiya Fine Surface Primer. Then paint her with enamel?
