  1. There are also unwanted features on cars that can cause problems. Case in point: I have a 2020 Chevy Equinox with the autostop feature. Every time it came to a stop while driving, it would shut off, I can only imagine the wear on the starter and other engine components. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the button on the dash to disable autostop, so there was no way to shut it off and it drove me nuts for weeks. I ended up picking up a "hack" for the car. Found there's a dongle cable that goes into the harness for the hood sensor. Just unplug the sensor, plug in the dongle and plug into the sensor. It appears to cause a minor fault with the sensor that disables the feature with no errors on the dash. At least some cars can be hacked. I do miss having a CD player, but there's ways around that too.
  2. Great job! Love the color.
  3. Fantastic job!
  4. Looks fantastic!
  5. Looks like you got a great set of tools. Good paints and primer are musts as well. Technique will come later. The best tip I can offer is this: Let each build give you skills to improve the next.
  6. I kinda want to get the 1969 Camaro kit. I know they're WAY out of proportion, but I remember it being a nifty kit that builds up well.
  7. I'm a cheapskate. Use Paint Shop Pro 4 that I got while working for a computer company in the early 2000's. Does what I need it to.
  8. Let's see... Headlight bulb changes on a 2009 Chevy Malibu. Have to remove the nose of the car to change because the headlight units are bolted to the front bulkhead with no passthrough. I'll admit I found an easier way later where you can unbolt/unsnap the top edge of the nose and slide your hand in and just unbolt the side of the headlight unit and get the bulb changed. Had a 1998 Cadillac DeVille Concours with the 4.3L Northstar. They used too small bolts to hold down the heads, so after a while they start to strip out and you get coolant leaks/blown head gaskets. The engine can be rebuilt (engine out) and the bolt can be drilled/tapped to use LS1 bolts. And my most recent folly, 2011 GMC Acadia. The engine loses oil through the PCV and you have to watch the oil levels like a hawk. If it loses more than a little bit of oil, the timing chains overheat and stretch a little. First it'll just lose a little power and show a code the timing is off. After a while it jumps time (like when the alternator has just failed and been replaced) and it's an engine out job to repair.
  9. I lucked out and got a mostly complete Dr. Krook's Medicine Show and a partial Der Guber Wagen, but I'd love to have the complete series.
  10. Finished a new one today. Color is Duplicolor medium charcoal with Tamiya clear. The wheels are stripped, painted steel and cleared, then highlighted with chrome pen.
  11. Just finished this one today. The body was warped when I got it, and I tried to straighten it out, but it's still a little off. Duplicolor paint. Really simple kit, originally meant to be motorized and lit. I tried to make inner door panels, but they didn't fit into the interior.
